Luigi sat down, taking deep breaths, preparing himself. He remembered the sounds. He remembered them too well. He sat up as the tape heralded the first test.
The quiet sounds of choppy thunder and crying filled the room. It made him as uncomfortable as last time. His hands weren't folded this time, so instead, one hand firmly grasped his opposite arm. He winced, looking down. He shook, but every once in a while, his shaking felt like twitching. He blinked rapidly, looking around the room. It felt like some part of his brain was trying its best to calm him down. His feet drummed on the floor, and right as he clenched his jaw,
"Document results"
Luigi's eyes flew open as Oleander wrote down his reaction. He didn't know what was with these sounds, and why they made him act like this. Were they supposed to mean something? The tape ordered the next test as Luigi rested his hands on the table, remembering how much worse this one was.
The whirring of fan blades struck fear into him immediately. He cowered, looking around. The faint morse code made his head hurt, and he fought crying out. He began breathing heavily. It felt like he was choking. His hands curled into furry, white and brown fists. He curled back into his seat, holding back his own screams. In the back of his head, he heard wicked laughter, but he wasn't sure if it was in his head, or part of the tape.
"Document results"
Luigi heaved a sigh of relief.
"Good to see that you are making progress." Oleander said calmly.
Luigi wasn't sure if that was progress.
He was led back to his room, and was left alone again. He grabbed one of the books from off the shelf, reading for a a short while. It didn't take long for him to close it again. It was hard to focus with all that was going on. Might as well call Mario.
He opened the calling program Oleander made him, smiling when his brother's face showed up onscreen.
"Hey Luigi!" He said. He most likely noticed that he looked different, but he knew that Luigi was being experimented on, so perhaps he expected that. Luigi could only imagine how his brother felt knowing this, however.
"Okay, so I asked around about the person who took you's name, and nobody else knows him. Maybe he didn't give you his real name, and that's a nickname or something."
Luigi sighed, "Probably... he wouldn't give me any information on where we'd be found or anything like that. It only makes sense that that's the name he gave me..."
"Don't worry! I'm still gonna try finding you! Just hang in there, alright?" Mario said. God, he never understood his brother's optimism sometimes. He's so sure he can find him while Luigi, on the other hand, knows there's no way he'll ever get out. Even then, he still smiled, and said as calmly as he can,
"Of course, bro..."
