Prologue

The red-orange hue of the afternoon sky filled the classroom through the glass windows. She took a deep breath as she sat by her desk, fiddling with a pink envelope. The indistinct chatter of the students loitering around the campus has started to diminish.

The twin-braided girl can feel her heart racing over the time passing. She took a glance on the wooden desk beside hers, wondering how she would ever have the courage to leave her letter there. Shaking her head and inhaling a sharp breath, she summoned some courage. She had to leave her letter by his desk’s compartment before he arrives from his tennis practice.

After all, the owner of that certain desk is the aloof and nonchalant prince that she developed a crush on. She would’ve combusted of shyness if ever he sees her in the middle of trying to give him her love letter.

Standing up from her own desk, the girl resolved to finally do it. She looked around, assuring that she was the only person in the room. Finding not a soul aside from herself, she leaned on his desk, trying to  reach the small compartment. But just then, the sliding room of the classroom opened.

“Oi, what are you doing?” a somehow grumpy voice startled her.

She flinched, almost dropping her letter. Straightening her posture up to feign innocence, she felt her heart drum against her chest. Redness crept up in her face, ears and neck. Slowly, she turned to look at the owner of the voice.

The boy stood by the opened classroom door. His dark greenish hair looked soft against the afternoon sunshine.  Amber cat-shaped eyes looked at her, questioning. Of all the people who could catch her while she delivers the letter, it had to be him.

Echizen Ryoma, her unreachable crush and the recipient of her love letter stood before her.

She can feel her lungs constrict of the surprise. Her loud heartbeats echoed in her ears and at that moment, she didn’t know what to do. Too shy to speak, and too nervous to even resume and give her letter personally.

Not knowing what to do, with flushed cheeks she dashed to go outside. She passed him by in the process and she was glad that he didn’t try to stop her.

She ran and ran until she reached the entrance of their school building. Face still feeling hot, the girl clutched her chest. She let out a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

Ryuzaki Sakuno can’t find it in herself to see him in class tomorrow.

A/N:

Yep, I know I’m still not finished with Waiting for that Promise, but I just can’t wait. Hahaha. I will try to simultaneously update this with WTFP, but I would be focusing on the latter since it’s near the end.

Anyway, this is an AU a bit inspired with Hana Yori Dango and Hana Nochi Hare-- japanese dramas. The setting of this story kind of feels like Eitoku High School, so for anyone who watched those dramas, this would feel familiar. LOL.
