Travel 3: Change of plans

— Yes, my dear family. It's the biggest possibility to live on Mars. People are studying this planet since eighteen seventy—seven and after three hundred twenty—two years, all scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration agree that Mars is the best possible place to live.

Marttin is glad because he thinks this place is the best to live outside the Earth. All his family smiles but they are worried at the same time.

— Dad, how can we do that? It's not easy to go there. It is a long trip. We need to travel for almost five or six months to be there. – says Uzza.

Dad goes up stairs very fast and gets dress. He needs to talk to his assistants about this idea. He is too happy because in his opinion it is a good idea to live on another planet.

— Babies, I'm going to the lab now. I back at night.

He kisses his children and goes out very fast. He walks to the lab thinking about the great idea he had this morning.

— Freddy , Tony, come here, please!

Marttin shouts! He arrives in the lab smiling and worried. He opens the glass door quickly.

— Marttin, — said Freddy, his assistant — I called to you in this morning, but...

— Please, guys, listen to me! We need to stop our project to find a way to recycle trash in the world. We don't have time to do it.

— What? What are you saying, Marttin? – Tony said watering. – We work here nights and days and now you want to stop?

Freddy and Tony are very confused because they have worked in this project since 2183.

— Guys, wait a minute! Before you say that, please, read this news in my tablet.

Pollution will take over the planet in less than two years.

American scientists have calculated the total amount of plastic ever produced by mankind, and say it amounts to 12.3 billion tons. And this impressive mass of material was created only in the last 155 years.

Freddy and Tony read the news on Marttin's tablet and they can't believe in what they have read.

— Marttin, — says Tony – this can't be true!

— I don't know what to do! Where will we live? – Freddy asks.

Marttin sits on his red chair. He breaths deeply.

— I was with my family during all morning and in the beginning of this afternoon. We were talking about that... We think the best place to live is Mars.

— Mars? – Tony shouts – We can't live there, you know that!

— No, you're wrong, Tony. Of course we can live on Mars. Mars is studying by other scientists for many years. We've known there is some water there and other chemical elements that help us to live better.

Silence. Nobody says any word.

Marttin breaths deeply again and he stand up.

— Guys, I need to think about it. – He walks towards the glass door – But we can't stay in this planet for many years.

Marttin goes out the lab. Freddy and Tony are worried about him.

In the beginning of the night, Marttin backs to the lab. The glass door opens very fast and now he looks at something he likes too much: his time tunnel.

—Yes, that's it! – says Marttin.

— That, what, Marttin?

Freddy doesn't understand what Marttin wants to do.

— Listen. We have this machine. We've made it for many years ago. We need to find a way to back more than one thousand year in time because I need to find documents that we can't find on websites.

— Friend, this is not possible! – Freddy said looking at Tony

— Of course it is! – Tony answers – We did something like this... It was at about five years ago. Now, we just need to understand how we can back more than one thousand year or how to take documents that help us to understand what can we do.

— Great job, Tony! – Marttin hugs his friend – Let's do it right now!

— I think it's too late. May we start this project tomorrow morning? – Freddy asks.

Marttin stops hugging his friend Tony and looks at Freddy.

— Ok. So, let's take a rest and tomorrow morning we can start our project.
