the time you got too close

55 14 6

you whisper strange things to me when the lights are low
your breath tickles my neck
and you coo at the sound of silence.

there is silence between us.

you stare and gain that look in your eye when it gets too close,
when the clock hits 6,
when all circumstances get too real,
when you realize it's you who's conflicted.

and then we go on mandatory break
for say two days.
you take some time to soul search.
you allow rain to fall on the tip of your tongue
as to contemplate its sweetness.

im still allowed to see you.
it's pain but you haven't driven me away.
i catch the corner glances you try to suppress.
you try to revert the last 48 hours

but I'd rather see you dance to the sound of your own voice.

i know there's been heightened curiosity
about this beastly being we've created and called love

but  I'd rather keep them guessing than reveal what we know.
