"The minute mind control magic was discovered, every government institute and kingdom made the practice as harsh a criminal offence as assassinating their respected leaders. The ability to control the actions of the unfortunate soul who drank the concoction was too much power to give one individual. Despite the immense potential power of such magic, the ingredients themselves are actually quite simple as most can be found in the average family's fridge, and the process is simple enough that any budding alchemist knows how to make the potion component. However, there are three huge roadblocks on the path towards mass mind control. The first of course is the illegality, however with a great relationship with certain important individuals(namely royalty) this can be circumvented. A more pressing issue is the long, tedious process of actually brewing the potion, taking an average of three to four months. The rather simplistic nature of the potion only serves to frustrate and bore the alchemist driven to this illicit pursuit. The last and most difficult obstacle to overcome is that the potion requires not just high level rune knowledge, but very specific apparatus to create, most of which was destroyed shortly after its creation. Nevertheless, someone with enough resources and time could conceivably mind control a significant portion of the human population, and conquer the world."

"Proficiency 2 reached: Fire." "OKAYPUTITOUTNOWITHAPPENED!" Elliot panicked as Elina stomped out the final flames of the burning piece of paper. "Relax Elliot, it's just a small fire on a sheet of paper." "Range increased to 20 m." "My parents would KILL me if I burned the house down." "I mean you could always-" Realizing what Elina was about to suggest, Elliot zapped her with a shock spell. "NO." Elina reeled back as she was subjected to a small but painful shock to her shoulder. "OW! FUCK! Jeesh, I was kidding okay?!" "Proficiency 2 reached: Shock. Current increased to 0.2A." "You're just lucky my parents planned a night out today. I would have shocked you multiple times if that weren't the case." While Elina continued to nurse her wound, Elliot asked the question both girls needed answers too. "What do we do after your idea Elina?" "That's what I was worrying about. Every option I think of has us running from the law or worse." A dark silence hung over Elliot's room as both girls ran over each unfavourable path at their disposal. "Listen Elliot, I know you think this is your fault, and I know you won't believe me when I say this, but we're gonna work through this. We will find a way out of this." Her attempt at inspiration was met with a look of despair from Elliot. "Okay, at least give me credit for trying! Look, whatever happens to you or me, I will always be there for you. We're best friends, that's what we're there for." Elliot responded with that same silence. "Ugh! At least pretend that was inspiring! Come on-listen, we'll be fine alright? You just... have to trust yourself. Does that hel-no it didn't help of course it didn't help." Admitting defeat, Elina checked a message from her father on her cell. "Update on Kolaru and MacConnel." "It's my dad, he wants an update. Initiate Epsilon Protocol?" Elliot stared at her friend in confusion. "One, we did not agree on that name. Two... your call." Taking in a deep breath. "Okay, here goes nothing. I have to leave soon, so you'll get an update tomorrow." After Elliot nodded in acknowledgement, Elina sent the most stressful message of her life. "I found the prodigy. Still very weak, we can go after them. It's MacConnel."

"The following people please come to the office please. Elliot Kolaru, Maizam MacConnel, E-leen-a Rallenyien, please report to the office." Why do teachers keep mispronouncing Elina's name? It's El-in-a, not E-leen-a. One time I understand. It's been over a decade. As Elliot made her way to the office, she spotted Aizy headed down as well. Noticing Elliot, he started walking with her, nervously asking, "Why are we being called to the office? Was it because of what happened yesterday, I apologized to Elina!" Oh god, I'm so sorry Aizy. I hope you'll forgive us. "I don't think so, she didn't mention going to the principal about that. I'm about as clueless as you." Still worrying about why they were called to the office, Aizy followed Elliot across the hallways of Rosewater. When they arrived, Elina was seated in the front area, with Principal Aerow standing nervously near her. Just before Elliot entered the office area, a message arrived from Elina on her cell. It was a previous message from Elina's father, forwarded to the prodigy. "Excellent, bring him in tomorrow at school so we can administer the potion." After that, Elina's own words were written in bold. "We need to save Aizy."

As Elliot and Aizy entered the office, Elina's eyes stared right into Elliot's. Realizing Elliot's intentions, Principal Aerow started to mention, "Elliot you are here for a diff-" before being cut off by her silent stare. Getting the point of this gesture, the principal lead the three students to his office. Heading into the principal's office, the group was met with three well dressed men, with holstered firearms on their waist. This has to be the people Elina was worried about. Hastily, Principal Aerow said, "Uhh, Agent Candor, I will leave you and your accomplices to do your business," and ran out of the office area. "Agent?! What the actual fuck is going on?! What were you two doing yesterday that made goddamn secret agents come after us?! Oh god, please don't kill us, I swear I-I'll..." Agent Candor forced the boy to sit down, and motioned for the girls to follow suit. "Cell tomes, on the desk." Obeying the agent's commands, Elina spoke tentatively. "Listen, I don't know why you are here, but I assure you sir that we have done noth-" "You know damn well why we're here Rallenyien," Agent Candor stated, interrupting Elina. "No Agent Candor, I do not." The moment those words finished leaving Elina's mouth, one of the other agents opened the nearby cabinet to reveal the Staff of Dreams, laid against presumably Principal Aerow's coat. When Aizy spotted the staff, his only reaction was an open mouth and frantic staring from the staff, to Elina, to the agents, and finally onto Elliot. "Th-This is a prank right. You guys are getting revenge on me for what happened last year. This a joke, th-that isn't very fun-OH GOD IT'S REAL! Oh god it's real, one of us is the prodigy! One of us is gonna...destroy the world!" As Aizy continued having a panic attack, Agent Candor looked suspiciously at Elina. "Adjective! Calm the boy down!" One of the accompanying agents grabbed Aizy and sat him back in his chair. After Aizy had partially gotten himself back in control, Candor reached into the closet and grabbed the staff, eyeing Elina in the process. "Mr. MacConnel, would you please grab the-," "No no no no no no!"Aizy tried to exit the room, but Agent Adjective grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him back. "Let me say this again; Mr. MacConnel, please grab the staff." Realizing his precarious position, Aizy reached for the staff currently in Agent Candor's hand. Having the staff in his hands, every set of eyes in the room were trained on the 15 year old. "Uhhh... Autoreticle!" His voice cracked as he raised the staff, which responded with absolute silence. Elliot couldn't help but mentally facepalm. That... is not how the staff works Aizy. Visibly relieved, Aizy dropped the staff on the ground and turned towards the exit. "THANK! GOD! I am leaving the room this instant! I am NOT the prodigy! Let me ou-you are not letting me out." That relief faded back to horror as he ran right into Agent Adjective, still stood tall in front of the door. Throughout the entire ordeal, Agent Candor's eyes never left Elina, who had her hands in her jeans pockets, showing signs of anxiety. "You really thought we don't have the ability to locate your cell at any point in time?" The second his statement was finished, a flash of light flew from Elina's pockets and ended in Agent Candor's face. The sound of shattered glass, followed by a soft hiss rang in the air. Everyone in the room stood perfectly still as Agent Candor slumped to the ground in front of the trio. With everyone still in shock, Elliot grabbed the staff and proceeded to give the nearby agent a different kind of shock."Proficiency 3 reached: Shock. Current increased to 2.0A." As the agent fell to the floor convulsing due to electric current, Agent Adjective drew his gun, preparing to fire at Elliot, until Aizy attempted to wrestle the gun out of his hand. Easily overpowering the small boy, he shoved Aizy to the ground and aimed at his head. Before he could pull the trigger, Elliot quickly ran over and electrocuted the armed agent. With Aizy watching in horror, the prodigy continued the shock spell for over half a minute, Agent Adjective's body convulsing as an exceedingly lethal amount of current coursed through his body. Finally, Elliot stopped the spell and the agent's body slumped dead in front of a horrified Aizy.

"Holy hell, what the fuck just happened?! Oh-Oh god he's dead he's actually dead, fuck!" As Aizy continued to panic, Elina assessed the situation. "Elliot, our cell tomes." Elliot was currently too distracted with the massive amount of notifications in her vision to understand what Elina was instructing. "Burn them Elliot." Finally understanding, Elliot burned their cell tomes to ash. "Aizy, grab his gun, we need to get out of here." Wordlessly, Aizy grabbed the deceased agent's gun out of his hands, with Elina following suit with the still unconscious Agent Candor. Without question, the trio made their way out of the office, into the rest of the school.
