Chapter 4

The rest of the week went by quickly but as the days went by the more I started having bad feelings about the party on Friday and every time I saw Richard he would smile in a creepy way, like he knew something I didn't and it made me feel really uneasy.

   Today is finally Friday, the day my school is having a football match against West hill and we have to be at a stupid mandatory pep rally to ‘boost our teams confidence ’. They did the whole football team run through a banner thing and then the music starts and the cheerleaders start their thing.

   I'm sitting at the back row watching everything from afar. Jocks getting praised for being able to run, throw and  catch, cheerleaders being applauded for dancing around half naked, the rest of the school wishing they could be part of those who are being applauded and praised. High school is so cliche it hurts.

   But at least the pep rally means something good, school is almost over and I can go home and sleep till Hailey comes over to get ready for the party. You may wonder why I'm not going to the football game well the answer is simple, being a ‘nerd’ in school makes me an easy target for bulling meaning people take out their frustrations on me and my fellow ‘nerds’, now the whole school is counting on the football team to win and what happens to people like me if per say the football team loses, people like me become punching bags for fellow students whom want to take out their frustrations on something or in my case, someone hence why I no longer attend football games, basketball games etcetera...

   Back to the pep rally, i still have about an hour before i can go home and even after the pep rally I still need to ask Hailey whether she needs a ride home.

  The pep rally ended about 30 minutes ago and still no sign of  Hailey. When the hall is completely empty I decide I should go and look for her because I really want to go home. I start opening random classroom doors till I find Hailey and Bram in an empty class having a rather heated conversation. I was going to close the door quietly but of course the world hates me and the door squeaks. Both of them snap their heads to me.

“How much did you hear” Bram says sounding annoyed.
“Nothing I just got here”
“what do you want weirdo”
“Bram leave her alone, Dakota  are you okay do you need anything did something happen ”
“Umm no I just wanted to ask you if you needed a ride home but I waited and I didn't see you so I started looking for you but sorry if I interrupted something ”
“Oh no you didn't interrupt don't worry I'll see you at your house 9 on the dot”
“Ok I'll see you later bye”

   I walk out quickly and close the door run down the halls and burst through the school doors and see a calm John waiting patiently for me with the car door open, I quickly get in and we make our way to my house.

   When I get home I quickly go up to my room. While passing my parents room I hear them arguing, like they've been doing a lot recently these days. I walk to my room and drop my bag and prepare myself while walking out and making my way to my parents room. When I get to the door I take a few breaths and knock.

“What!!” I heard my mom yell from inside
“Umm I need to talk to you”
“Okay come in”

   I open the door and see my mom looking very pissed and my dad looking calm as usual.

“Well what is it?”
“Umm tonight I'm going to a party with Hailey ”
“Okay but do your homework first and don't get drunk, stay with Hailey throughout be back by 12. You can leave now” my mom says before walking into the bathroom.
“Just take care of yourself when you get there if anything happens call me or your brother immediately okay?” My dad tells me.
“Okay dad, thank you”

   I close the door and walk back to my room to start my homework.
Yayyyy.

I'd like to think this chapter was long.
Anyway the next chapter is when things start to get interesting.
