Everly stared. The row boat was a weathered oak color, bobbing it's way towards the shore. Eventually, it washed ashore. Everly eyed it in wonder. She knew she had seen this boat before. She just didn't know where.

Everly hiked back to camp, pushing the thoughts of the boat to the back of her mind. She tried to forget about it as she prepared her breakfast. Tried to distract herself as she went for a midday swim. But she couldn't. Every time she pushed the thought away, it came back almost instantly. That's when she had an idea.

" If I just push the boat away, it'll be gone. I won't have to worry about it," Everly said to herself. So she hiked back to the area where the boat was. It was still there, sitting on the white sand. Everly placed her hands on the front of it and pushed. She pushed it back into the water. She turned it around, gave it one last push, and then the boat was gone, drifting away.

Everly turned around and went back to her camp. It's gone. I don't have to think about it anymore. So she prepared a treat afternoon snack for the animals and forgot all about the boat.

The Next Morning

As Everly did her morning sweep of the island, she found herself almost hoping that the boat was back. As she reached the spot where the boat had been the day before, she closed her eyes, and made a wish. When she opened them, she searched the beach. And there it was. The boat had returned.
