All my worries seemed to be forgotten.

Over the next few days, I stayed with Zak in his apartment. Conveniently, he had a spare room, so we didn't have to share a bed like characters in cliché fanfiction. I was surprised at how well we got along, despite being completely different– I guess the "opposites attract" saying has a grain of truth to it.

For once, I had something to wake up for. It was refreshing to live with another human being, especially one so zestful and high-spirited. His contagious laugh, the comforting smell of homemade food, and the Florida sunlight shining through the windows– the little things made me feel alive again.

Another thing I admired was Zak's patience and consideration, which you would never guess he had from the persona he puts up online. He never pressured me to talk, he gave me the privacy I needed, he respected my personal space, despite still occasionally sneaking in a hug that might have been too long and too intimate than a friends' embrace, but I didn't give much thought to it. We seldom had long conversations, but what mattered was in between the words.

It felt good to forget. It felt satisfying to be free of my past, which defined me for so long. But somewhere at the back of my mind, a voice was telling me that I was still missing a puzzle piece from my life.

"Hey Mega, wanna go somewhere today since the weather's nice? The bisector of the photosynthesis of ping spoofing tells me that you've never been to a proper amusement park before!" Zak yelled in his usual enthusiastic voice, interrupting my thoughts. I slightly smiled and nodded, perfectly knowing what happens when something doesn't satisfy the childish guy, who starts pouting and fake crying.

Soon, we were standing at the entrance of DisneyLand. A wide grin was plastered on my face as I pointed to the iconic castle, instantly recognizing it from the intros of many Disney movies I've watched. I may not look like the guy that is into this genre of movies, but I greatly enjoyed them, especially now that I've been able to speed my evenings watching them with Zak.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the steepest ride, waving through the crowd.

My mood slowly decreased when I perceived the never-ending line of people, dreading the long wait in the scorching heat. Soon I noticed that beside me, Zak was waving his fully extended arm, trying to get the attention of someone, and his height was definitely not helping. I noticed that he was clutching tickets that seemed to be different from everybody else's, the three letters "VIP" shining brightly with gold.

We were escorted through a separate gateway, past the mass of people looking at us enviously. Everything went in a blur as we climbed into the car, and a pair of strong hands buckled our seatbelts. My stomach twisted as I scanned the track, a metal snake dangerously twisting under the sun, evoking an exhilarating scream from the riders at each coil.

"Majestic, isn't it?" Zak beamed. I nodded and let out a small laugh, since I didn't know the youtubers's vocabulary included the word "majestic".

While I was lost in my thoughts, the engine underneath slowly roared to life. As in slow motion, we were inevitably rising up the track. With every second, every "clank" of the wheels, every foot we rose up, I was filled with more nervous anticipation. Palms sweaty, I held onto the safety bars like my life depended on it, holding my breath.
