+Luke's POV+

Michael just told me he loves me. I don't know what to say or do so I just stand there and stare at him.

I clear my throat.

"Well, it's getting late and I'm really tired so, I can take the couch and you can take my bed."

"No, I'm good. I'll sleep down here so when I wake up I don't wake everybody else up." he sighs.

"Are you sure?" I question.

"Yes Luke, now shut up and go to bed." he states.

"Okay.." I whisper.

I head upstairs and change my clothes for bed. I climb into bed and start thinking.

How does he love me?

Nobody loves me except for my mom and dad.

I drift off to sleep after over thinking things. This all seems to come in quite fast.

+Michael's POV+

Did I actually just tell him I love him? Do I?

I laid the blankets down along with my pillows. I fell asleep after staring at the ceiling for a while. I'm still kind of shocked that Luke just told me that, really.

I wake up to light blinding my eyes, someone is standing over my head with a flashlight. What the fuck?

"Whoa, who are you?"

"I'm Liz, and you are?" She asked.

"I'm Michael, Luke's... friend."

"Oh, well hello Michael, you're welcome here anytime!" She exclaimed, which scared me a small bit, because she hardly knows who I am or why I'm here.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yes, anything."

"Why were you shining a flashlight in my eye?" I laughed.

"I thought you were an imposter." She laughed with me.

"Why are you sleeping here?" she asks. I sat up.

"Luke needed help with his project." I lied.

"At 1am?"

"No, I was here to help at around 7pm but it was raining outside and my house was 20 minutes away and my mums car was broken so he let me sleep here."

"Uh, oh. Okay. I was working late, but I didn't see you here. I only came down for my breakfast."

"What time is it?" I asked her, and she told me it was 10am.

Oh shit.

"I better go.." I said and took off the blanket and shoved it to the side of the couch.

"Would you like something to eat before you go? I can make you breakfast."

With that, I decided to say. After all, I was hungry.

I saw Luke come in the kitchen door with his hair in a mess.

"Oh, hey Michael."

"Hi."

"I made you breakfast. Michael what would you like to eat?" Liz asked.

It creeped me out how relaxed she was, even though I was a stranger eating breakfast in her house.

Luke picked at his bacon, he didn't eat it; instead he pushed it further up the table.

"Um, actually I'm not hungry." I said, even though I was starving.

"Really? You're sure you don't want tea or coffee or anything?"

Luke looked at me. He knew exactly what was going on and he wasn't impressed about it.

"No, I'm fine."

Luke kicked me under the table.

I left, ignoring him, and walked down the street in the same clothes that I wore yesterday. They smelt awful. I continued to walk up the hill, prepared for the anger to take place the minute I opened the door. Sigh.

I didn't eat because of Luke, and he knew that. That's why he kicked me.

But I don't even want to eat. It's amazing how one person can change the way you think and act, and care about things, even if they're new in your life, they can change it forever, just with a simple "Hi."

I opened the door and sighed. I saw my mother look at me in complete disgust and anger. Her face was red.

"Hey mo-"

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING SNEAKING OUT OF HERE AT 1AM? HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF YOU WERE OKAY? I DON'T FUCKING KNOW WHO THAT KID IS, MICHAEL. GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED!" She screamed.

Woah.

"It's ok mom, I don't think I got him pregnant." I joked.

"It was a boy? What on earth were you doing at his house?"

"In the phone call I said Luke. When have you ever heard of a girl named Luke? All I did was sleep there, okay? He's my friend and he needed help."

"With what?"

There was a silence.

"A project at school."

Really Michael? You couldn't come up with a better excuse?

"At 1am? Really?"

"It's due tomorrow and he was anxious about all of it, so he asked me for help." I lied.

She shook her head and placed both her hands on her forehead.

"Just get out, Michael. I was worried, and you completely ignored me to go sleep at a strangers house? What were you thinking?"

There was another silence, and I didn't know what to do. I wasn't going to say sorry - that'd be a lie anyway. I won't say sorry for helping someone, so instead I picked my bag off the floor, which she packed with all my clothes so that she'd get me out of the house, and left. She's overreacting.

I took out my phone and sent a text to Luke.

You: i need somewhere to sleep tonight

Luke: she lost her shit?

You: yeah

Luke: okay, i guess you can stay

I got a text seconds later:

Luke: so did you really mean what you said last night or were you kidding just to get me to shut up
