Duncan's POV

I woke up with a pounding headache. I wonder when did my alcohol tolerance wither like an old plant. Must be from not drinking for a while.
As the first sun rays of dawn gave the sky a beautiful pinkish blush and the rain was playing a monotonous calm melody, I looked down to the crimson bedsheets, and than noticed that I was still in my clothes. Suddenly I noticed a faint sound of someone breathing slowly and steadily. I could even feel each exhale on the nape of my neck, making me shiver.

'Don't tell me-!?' I turned around slowly and careful not to wake her up and when I laid my eyes on the sleeping figure next to me my doubts were confirmed. She was here. Sleeping in my bed, in my house after so many years...
How I wish the circumstances of that sleep over were different, how I wish I could have her all to myself all night, how I wish when she'd open her eyes she would smile at me as I kissed her, kiss those beautiful lips I missed kissing.
But she was probably going to recoil in horror at the sight of me, at the thought of sleeping next to me.

Was there even the tiniest bit of a possibility for her to miss him... like he missed her?

Brushing those thoughts aside feeling sappy and too emotional for my own good, I decided to enjoy the situation while it lasted.
Just than I heard her sleep talk she seemed frustrated and her brows were drawn into a tight knot. She was whimpering, she must be seeing a nightmare. Just than I heard her say something I didn't expect to hear.

"Duncan,...no..d-don't... don't..go..."

I wrapped my arm around her waist and brought her just a little closer to me, she was tall and all but in the moment she seemed tiny like a kitten, or was it I that changed in size after all this time.

When she was close enough to my liking I stroked her back gently and soothingly and than I secured an arm around her waist again. She appeared to be so vulnerable, a side of her she tries so hard to bury deep and secured, away of the preying eyes of anyone to see. I was astonished. She was calling me, dreaming of me and she seemed so troubled. Could that be a dream related to our separation years ago?

"I'm here" I whispered faintly.

I swore I heard her sigh, a relieved kind of sigh and than she calmed down and unexpectedly buried her face into my chest, her fingers grasping my shirt gently. I froze, my heart going a thousand miles an hour. At that moment all I wanted to do was protect her and shield her, but from what, or from whom... Probably from myself...
I exhaled exasperatedly letting myself relax and fall into a deep slumber.

Courtney's POV

I woke up as usual, when my biological clock kicked in. I usually wake up at 6:30 giving me enough time to get ready before going to work. I felt comfortable and than it hit me I didn't go back last night...
My eyelids flung open immediately and when I looked up I saw Duncan sleeping, WITH ME IN HIS ARMS??!

"Morning Sunshine, now doesn't that bring back some memories?"

"Oh my God, eww!!" I pushed myself away but he tried to keep me still. I used force and finally broke free. It seems the hours spent at the gym did him more than just shaping his muscles there's added strength to that too.
He just chuckled.

"Is there something funny?"

"Well you weren't that pissed when you called my name in your sleep"

He must be lying. "That can't be true! Did you dare and touch me while I was sleeping you ogre, I swear if you did I'll break those arms of yours!" I threatened pointing a threatening finger at him from where I stood now on the floor, barefoot next to my heels.
