Courtney's POV

It took me a second to register the question.

"Of course I want him out of my life! I mean I'm way better without him! There's no need to even ask!"

They didn't seem very convinced and it was concerning.

"Well look, if that's what you want we'll support you" Gwen smiled.

"But" Bridgette continued "if you ever happened to, you know, change your mind, we'll also be here for you"

"Why would I even do that?"

"As a matter of fact Court, it's because you are so damn single! It's been 5 years girl and not even a date!! We tried so many times to find you someone but you'd refuse. So, you know, we'd understand if you gave in to his... suggestions" both girls laughed as Gwen finished.

I felt my cheek gain a pinkish hue.
"Oh shut up you two! I don't need a boyfriend to be happy! I'm perfectly fine"

"If you say so but we'll be with you anyway" my blond friend hugged me.

"No hugs without me" Gwen joined us.

I felt blessed at that moment, I was lucky to have friends like these two weirdos.

"I love you girls, both Blondie and Grimmy" I teased.

"We love you too Cappuccino!"
We all laughed at the silly nicknames.

***

After lunch both girls had planned to spend the afternoon with their boyfriends respectively so they left leaving me to my thoughts.
Gwen was probably going to work on an art project while Trent accompanied her on his guitar. They'd literally spend hours just like that.
While Bridgette and Geoff will most likely make-out and call each other pet names while they pretended to watch Netflix.

I sigh as I grab the file Duncan had given me. I opened it to find a sticky note inside with his phone number on it with a wink drawn like so (•̀ᴗ-) I rolled my eyes at that but I did save his number in my phone, I mean I had work with him so it could be useful, that was the soul purpose of that action.

Talking it out with the girls really helped.

As I was working time flew by and it was raining heavily. I liked the smell of rain it was soothingly nice to me and it helped me to stay focused. That's why I always kept a window slightly open when I worked during winter.

After a while it seemed I heard a whimper outside. Thinking it was my imagination I decided to listen more carefully. The whimpering was audibly clear this time.
I went out the door immediately not paying attention to the fact that there was a downpour. I looked around and I found a very small white puppy stuck in my house fence. He was shivering because of the cold.

At the poor sight I immediately went for my kitchen to grab some oil. It would help him out of there. It wasn't a hard job to free him he must have no idea how to help himself since he was so young. I put some of the oil on the fence just to make the process safer, and pulled and he got out easily.

I took him inside, the poor little thing was a pity to keep outside. We were both soaked to the bone. After wearing a coat I took the puppy in a towel with me and knocked on my neighbor's door. She was a veterinarian and it was 7pm so it should be okay. She opened the door and was shocked to see me.

"Courtney! Hi! What brings you in this weather, is something the matter!?" Lucy spoke as she noticed the small dog in my arms.

"Well hi, I'm so sorry to bother you but I just found this poor puppy stuck in my fence and I helped him out of it so could you perhaps have a look at him?"
