the next morning, florence wakes up at her usual time, 10am. her mind wanders off to luke, and she smiles to herself knowing she will be able to see him once again today.
luke, on the other hand, has been up for hours. he wakes up at 6 every morning to go to the gym for two hours, then comes home to shower, and goes to his work as a cashier at the local supermarket. then at 12, he goes to starbucks. he worked out this whole scedule before he moved here, getting the gym membership and everything.
now the time is 11am, and florence realizes she needs some more milk. she throws on a jacket and some shoes, and heads out of her apartment to the super market, which happens to be next door.
she quickly makes her way to the milk isle, grabs a new jug, and also goes to the cookie isle to grab a pack of animal cookies with vanilla icing and sprinkles, her favorite. just as florence makes her way to the 10 items or less lane, luke makes his way to his second hour shift of the day.
"fancy to see you here." luke says to florence, as shes searching her pockets for her credit card.
"i could say the same to you." she smiles, then frowning. she brought a playing card instead of her credit card.
"forget money or something?" luke asks, handing her a bag with her milk and cookies.
"my credit card, but uh, how much is it?" she asks.
"$7.34." luke smiles, as florence smiles a bit, luckily finding a ten dollar bill, handing it to luke.
"keep the change, see you at 12." florence smiles, grabbing her bag and leaving, before luke can even look up to say bye.
luke likes florence. he just feels very attracted to her, he doesnt know why either. well, he does, but he never gets feelings this quickly. theres something about her hair, its perfect, and luke just realized when he smiled at her, she has dimples. and her eyes, wow, luke loved her eyes from when he saw them yesterday. they look green, but luke thought he saw little yellow specks as well.
florence finds luke attractive, but she doesnt want to like him, have feelings towards him. all of her relationships have failed terribly. her realtionships in the past are nightmares that haunt her every night, and she doesnt want to see lukes beautiful face with those chamring blue eyes in them, any time soon.
it being 12 in the afternoon, luke changed out of his work clothes, and makes his way to starbucks, only a couple minute walk. and as luke starts walking, florence is putting on her same apron and hat. since 12 isnt a lunch rush where luke and florence live, olny florence is working the 12-1 shift, naturally only five to ten people come in, anyways.
"caramel brulee latte please." luke says, causing florence to look up from the book she was reading. shes a book fanatic, shes also a fan of the sims.
"i didnt even see you come in." she chuckles, grabbing a cup and writing lukes name on it.
"im pretty swift." he jokes.
"speaking of swift, did you see taylor swifts performance at times square on new years eve?" florence asks, starting up his latte, coming back over to the cash register.
"yes, i dont know how she didnt freeze." luke chuckles, handing florence a ten dollar bill, and her handing back four dollars. luke drops all four in her tip jar when she makes sure the latte is okay. luke makes his way over to the same seat as yesterday, but then immediatly has to stand back up.
"luke." florence calls, setting down his coffee. he grabs his coffee, and takes a good look at florence, now realizing she has faint freckles.
"what are you looking at, luke?" florence asks, as lukes cheeks redden.
"see you tomorrow, freckles." luke says, then leaving the little shop, and florence is left there for another forty-five minutes, forty-five minutes to think about luke.
