I woke up to the smell of freshly baked pancakes. To get to the kitchen I had to follow the smell of pancakes or I would have gotten lost. This house is going to take years to find my way around. I walked past a room someone was sitting at the desk.

"Hey you coming to breakfast?"

"Nah I'm good. " He said not even turning to me.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah.. I guess. "

"Wait you Jack, your our step brother. Why didn't you come down to say hi to me yesterday? I really wanted to meet you. "

"Because who would want to meet a stupid step brother when you have seven other brother that have the same parents as you. "

"Jack," I sat next to him, "your just as much a brother as Aaron taylor and everyone else is to me. Nothing will change that. Besides, DNA doesn't make a family, love does. " I smiled hoping I was cheering him up, "come down for breakfast. I bet the guys all miss you."

"Maybe later. "He turned back to his computer and I left.

Walking to the kitchen I saw all the guys eating at the table. Pancakes stacked sky high. Blueberries, whip cream, strawberries, and everything in between. Our dad was cooking.

"Good morning honey." My dad said. "Grab some food."

Getting some food I sat down next to Aaron and Matt.

"So sleep well?" Taylor asked.

"Yeah. I couldn't find the kitchen but sleep was good." I made everyone laugh. I just think they're being nice because I wasn't even trying to be funny. "Do you guys always have big breakfasts like this?"

"Not really but it was your first morning with us I guess you could say. So we made it for you. " Cameron said.

"Ohh. That's nice." I took a bite.

"So how was it like living with our mom and being like an only child?" Matt asked.

"Matt.." Dad gave him a look and Matt just stuffed his food in his face.

"It's okay. It was cool I guess. I mean, I went to school came home and hung out with my best friend. Usually mom would order take out or make something home made. Saturday's We would watch movies all day, or go shopping. Once we had a nerf gun fight around the house. Sunday, we would go to church, then we would go out to lunch after. Then spend the rest of the day at home. Mom usually was sleeping because she worked night shifts. But one day she didn't come home. Then later that night I got a call and now I'm here. " I faked a smile looking at all the guys face. They were just blank stares. Either they tuned me out or was shocked for some reason.

"Well after breakfast we could have that nerf gun fight you were talking about. " Jack(step bro) said walking into the kitchen.

"Yeah that would be so much fun. We could have teams. " Shawn started getting really excited.

"You have to clean up breakfast first." Dad said leaving the kitchen table.

We picked our teams.

Me

Blue team started at the back of the garden. Red started at the front of the house at the end of the drive way. Dad was going to blow an air horn to tell us to start. He was going to watch the whole thing in the security camera room.
