*FLASHBACK - last year*
It was a warm November day. Just having finished for the day, I waited in the fraternity clubroom for Alex as we had talked about spending some time in Central Park together today. I loved that place so much, especially the view of the colorful trees.
I checked my phone after twenty minutes. No text or call from Alex. His class should have finished almost ten minutes ago and he usually let me know if he was on his way. It was unusual of him to be this quiet.
The clubroom was slowly filling up with different people, a mix of brothers and their friends. The gaming consoles were started and soon sounds of the game filled the room along with cheers of onlookers.
I stood up from my perch on the black couch, pacing as I texted my boyfriend.
S: Everything okay?
I waited another ten minutes. Nothing. The message was delivered, so I would know if he saw it. I sat back down, a bit of sadness taking over me.
He could be pulled into a meeting or talking to a professor, I thought. I shouldn't be so selfish.
But this is about the third time he has disappeared on you in the past week, another voice murmured.
A loud laugh came from the door. Turning, I saw Harry and Louis come in, both roaring with laughter as they kept looking back out the door.
"What a shithead," Harry chortled.
Louis sobered up a bit. " I bet you twenty bucks he will get suspension on his record."
Harry waved him off, as he walked further into the room. Both of the boys haven't seen me yet.
"Please, it's Niall. He can wear a candy thong and still the administration will love him." Then his eyes landed on me, laughter leaving him. "Oh hey, Sophie."
I smiled tightly in greeting.
Louis went off towards the big crowd without acknowledging me, but that wasn't a big deal. The frat knew of my distinct disliking for much social interaction, but still kept on trying to break it. Louis respected my silent self.
Harry sat beside me, observing me. "Are you waiting for Alex?"
"If he shows," I replied, fiddling with the sleeves of my sweater. "He's probably busy." Here I was making excuses for him.
Harry looked at me for a second before getting up and gesturing for me to do the same. "Come on."
"Why?" I asked, but getting up nevertheless.
Without a word, he walked out and I followed, grabbing my bag with me. We left the building and soon were on the chilly streets of the Upper East Side. We passed an ambulance truck that was parked by our school, students gathered around it, so it was impossible to see who was taken.
"Harry, seriously, where are we going?" I asked, tearing my eyes from the ambulance and focused on the tall boy walking ahead of me.
"Somewhere."
"Where is that 'somewhere'?"
"You'll see," Harry threw over his shoulder. I could hear a smile in his voice.
"Fine," I huffed and kept pace with him.
I had no idea why we were taking a stroll in the middle of the day, especially why would Harry leave the school so suddenly. After some time, we stopped in front of a shady looking bar, with tinted windows and all. Everything around this college seems shady. Good god. I looked at Harry who was gauging my facial expression as I turned to look at the bar.
