Let's just say I was not happy when I got a call from the police, saying my little sister had kicked down a streetlight and injured a cop. I was, number one, furious, and number two, terrified. I couldn't leave work because of it, because Mr. Grady was going on, and on, and on, about those "irresponsible bastards" and us, "ignorant rascals", but luckily, I didn't have to leave, because they came here. It didn't help our case when two police officers dragged in my sister, who was in handcuffs, and her friend Cole, who looked terrified. Mr. Grady-actually, I'm going to call him Mr. Bossy Pants- saw that I had a miscreant sister, and started going on and on and on and on and on, about how we would turn out in jail- like Alexa- if we kept up our, "disgusting lies". "Excuse me, are you her father?" A policeman asked me. "No, sir, I'm her brother." He narrowed his eyes. "Where are your parents?" He asked. "Dead," I said bluntly. He blinked. "Sorry. Where's your guardian?" "I'm 22, we don't have one." He narrowed his eyes so much I don't think he could see. "I'm going to have to have you come with me." He said, ushering us outside. "You are going to have to pay 500 dollars for her not going to jail." At that time, Aubrey came up. Very bad timing. Her eyes widened and she started to cry. Sadly, she did not realize that he was a police officer, so she hugged him and started crying even more. "Please, don't let Lexa go to jail sir, please!" She whined, sniffling. Thankfully the officers' hearts melted, so they let Alexa of the hook, for the sake of Aubrey crying even more. When they were gone, I turned on Alexa. "You kicked down a streetlight?!" I yelled. She crossed her arms. "I'm sorry, I got upset, because of this picture!" She said, holding up her phone. There was a picture of a poster of our building, and an article about how we were "horrible, no good thieves and liars". I reared back, took the phone, and went over to Mr. Bossy Pants. "Excuse me Mr. Bo-Grady, do you happen to have anything to do with this?" I asked, showing him the picture. He turned pink, "Uh-well-I-" He stammered, "Yes. I do. I told them to write that because it's true." Melody, my co-worker, looked like she was going to punch him in the face....so she did. She punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious. She covered her mouth with her hand. "Whoops." She squeaked. I think it might be a little bit too late for "whoops" but okay. We carefully dragged him into the janitor's closet and locked him inside. I dusted off my hands and handed back Lexa's phone. "We've got to get back to work, you can put the groceries in the fridge, and take Aubrey to school." School here was optional, because the former mayor decided the parents here were very smart, but our parents aren't alive, so Aubrey had to go to school. Alexa and I graduated early, at 16, because we got full scores on all our standardized tests. We're both smart, but she's more street smart, and I'm more academic and logical. That's why I have never got into legal trouble. Alexa...I can't really say the same for. She's lucky she has Cole to keep her from going to juvie.
