Chapter 15
"Kieran, we have to do something!" I shouted as I paced around my room. It's been four days since Kieran found Rollin's victim and since then, there have been two more murders. "At this pace, he'll have the town all killed off in two months! We can't just sit back and let him do this, we have to do something!"
"I agree," Kieran said calmly. "But what are we supposed to do? Rollin's a pack leader and sadly, I'm part of his pack. He commands me when I transition into wolf form and that's the only way I'll stand a chance against him. I can't fight him alone, Heather."
I let out an angry sigh. "I know, I'm sorry. I just want him gone! I hate that he can just get away with this!"
Kieran finally stood up and took hold of my hands. "We'll figure something out."
"Promise?" I asked quietly. I know he's going to try as hard as he can to find a way to get rid of Rollin, but I had a sinking feeling that nothing was going to work.
He nodded. "I just need a little more time to think of a plan. Now how about we temporarily forget about Rollin and go out on a date like normal teenagers?"
I let out a laugh. "Normal...Kieran, do you ever think we can be normal?"
Kieran leaned in and gently pressed a kiss to my lips. "Who said normal was any fun?"
I smiled and let him pull me down the hallway and out the front doors.
"Where are we going?" I asked him as he opened the passenger car door for me.
He didn't answer. Instead, I found out fifteen minutes later as we pulled into the lot of the town diner.
I hadn't been inside since I first moved to the town. The diner was barely even a diner at all, more like a bar, but nobody was gutsy enough to say so. Inside was the set up of a bar along with a pool table, pinball machine, and a stage for local bands to play on.
We ate dinner and had made sure our conversations did not consist of any werewolf subjects. Tonight we were just going to enjoy each other and not worry about everything else.
So far we had successfully managed to keep the supernatural out of our conversations and after we shared a strawberry banana milkshake, we moved on to the other side of the building to play pinball.
We took turns at the machine and had competitions to try and beat the other's high score.
Everything was going wonderfully until the door opened and sent a gust of wind through the place. We both stopped our game of pinball and turned to look at the person entering. She was tall with long, slender legs and black waves of hair that almost reached her hips.
I took a few moments to admire how naturally beautiful she was. If I wasn't supernaturally connected with Kieran and couldn't hear his thoughts, I would have been jealous of the newcomer. But since I knew his soul, I knew there was no crack in his love for me.
"Do you know her?" I quickly whispered to Kieran, before she could get close enough to hear us.
He took hold of my hand and shook his head. "No, but something's off about her. She...smells like a werewolf!"
My eyes widened and my mouth dropped. "What? Like...a wolf from your pack?"
Kieran slowly shook his head, never once letting his eyes leave the strange newcomer. She was at the bar now, ordering herself a shot. "No, I don't remember her from the woods. But she looks familiar. I'm not sure where she's from."
He started walking forward and I grabbed his hand, yanking him back. "What are you doing?" I hissed through my teeth. Was he looking for trouble? It was best to just leave her alone.
