Chapter 25

Matthew

I'm a mess.

Such a mess.

Not seeing Bri is killing me. It hurts deep down every morning when I don't feel her body against mine. And knowing she's somewhere with that freak of a Raven just kills me even more.

I'm walking down the hall to see James. He should have come out of surgery a couple days ago while I was resting too. 

When I walk into the room, he looks as if nothing has just happened. He smiles up at me as I lean against the wall, "How's it going?"

"Could be better." I shrug my shoulders crossing my arms and looking at the floor.

"Are the girls doing okay?" He asks concerned. I look up to meet his eyes.

He doesn't know.

"So where are they?" He asks louder this time. 

"Briel was taken." I say not breaking eye contact, "Raven is working with the Redeemers and he took her away." I look away now. His eyes saddened and it breaks me even more to know that I can't help yet another person I care for.

"Is she okay?" He asks in a whisper.

"We don't know a thing. Not even where they are." I shake my head, "Alessandro's trying to figure it out."

"Screw Alessandro!" He throws his hands up in the air and get's up from the bed. He runs his free hand through his hair and paces the room. He stops at the wall. 

"What about Mack?"

I sigh, getting up from the wall, "We don't know. She wasn't any of the dead bodies in the lobby so we assumed she was taken. Ales-  We think we saw her being taken but we can't be sure." 

"Holy-" He slumps down against the wall. It's quiet for a while and then he speaks.

"We are horrible boyfriends." He chuckles and I smile.

"Well we'd be even worse if we just sat around here and did nothing." I walk up to him and help him up. 

We walk down the hall together and find Sandro.

"Hey guys I was just about to call you." He looks up from a screen and walks over to us.

"Someone's here." Sandro says crossing his arms. His eyes are on fire and I know it's nobody good.

"How do you know?" James asks.

"We set up a camera outside and noticed someone walking around the dead bodies in the lobby." He cocks his head towards the screen. We all walk up to it as it follows the person. 

My heart stops.

"Zoom in." I say. 

Just as I thought.

"It's Raven." I get up and start to walk out.

"Wait Matt-" Alessandro starts but it's too late.

I'm out the door and making my way towards him, head high.

"Matthew!" He cries out. His echo bounces off the rock walls.

I smile.

Such a good actor.

"Hey Matthew it's so good to-" I shove him hard and he tumbles back.

"Wha-"

"Where is she?" I yell, no longer smiling, "Where'd you keep her safe? In the city?" I shove him again and this time he falls.
