Today is Halloween and my mother and father finally visited me after a while to spend the night with me at the hospital.

They brought me some classic Halloween movies to watch such as: The Nightmare before Christmas and the Halloween Town movie collection to watch tonight. Although, I prefer watching gory movies like: Friday the Thirteenth series or A Nightmare on Elm Street. My father brings two chairs and places them beside me and says, "Look at these lovely chairs! Your mother and I are going to sleep great on these!"
My mother hits his shoulder lightly and scowls at him.
My dad looks at me and shrugs his shoulders.
My parents finally visited me after a while of not being able to and I've never felt more content. It feels like 2009 again. I'm next to mom and dad on the couch staying past my bedtime, while watching gruesome horror movies and eating a shit load of candy. Only difference is that we are in a hospital and not home like it should be.
We begin to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas and for once I'm feeling some of the Halloween spirit. Dr. Flora had some of the clinical assistants decorate the hospital for the fall season in order to raise the spirits around here.
My room has a small light up Jack-o'-lantern on a small table next to my television, a pumpkin pie candle refresher, and some fake leaves that wrap around my window.
Half way into the movie, my father suddenly gets a phone call.
A few moments later, my father begins to whisper to my mother, and she frowns.
"What happened?" I ask my parents.
My father fixes his glasses and says, "I'm sorry sweetie, mother and I were really looking forward to spending the night with you, but I got this client last minute and he's offering to pay me a lot of money if I write this paper for him due for tomorrow. My client needs it right away. It's mandatory document that I need to write up for him and send it."
I begin to boil up inside and feel my blood pressure skyrocket.
I look at my window, so that I can hide my irritation and I mumble, "Why does mom have to go with you then?"
My mother says, "I can't leave your dad alone. You know that Sabrina. We are like peas in a pod."
My voice became low and raspy as I spoke, "How about me huh? I'm always alone in this room. Think about that. Do I complain? No, I deal with it. So maybe dad should stay alone and get used to it for one night."
I face them and they're already standing up and ready to leave as if my words had no effect on changing their minds to stay.
"Please, we will try our best to visit you tomorrow or this weekend. You must know that not everything goes to plan at times. And you're not always alone. You have the doctor and your nurses," my mother adds on, while turning on the lights in the room. My dad begins to put on his sweater and gathers his and my mother's things.
"We don't want to leave you alone, but this is important, and I especially can't miss this chance to earn some money. I'll get you a gift with some of that money to owe you," my father utters.
I stop talking and I just listen to them ramble on and on how they're "sorry."
This moment was too good to be true anyways.
Eventually, my parents both hug me and kiss my cheeks.
"Take good care honey! Finish those movies and please call if you need anything!" My mother shouts as she and my father leave the room.
And just like that, I'm alone once again. I was furious at one point, but now I'm not. I'm so accustomed to being alone at this point, that realizing that made me not feel so bothered by it as before.
Instantaneously, I remember that Kian must be at the Hospital since today was a Thursday, so I call one of the nurses to call for him.
A few moments later, Kian rushes into my room in his skeleton costume and looks at me with a startled look.
"Are you okay? One of the nurses said you needed me really badly and it's also 10 o'clock, so I thought you fell or something because it's so late and-"
"I didn't know you had so much energy at this time.. Don't worry I'm fine. I just need someone to watch some of these movies with me," I interrupt and point at the screen with the movie playing in the distance.
Kian raises his eye brows and scoffs.
"Well, well. You really scared me there," Kian replies as he walks over to me.
He hands over a bag of assorted chocolates and a bag of sour patch.
He continues, "I was just at CVS and bought these Halloween candies. I thought about you and how there isn't any way you could get candy since you obviously can't trick or treat, so I bought you that. Don't tell Dr. Flora I bought all that for you. I wanted to stop by and give it to you later actually before you called."
My eyes shine as I accept the candies he bought for me. He thought about me...
"Oh wow. Thank you so much. I've never gotten this much candy before ever since I was 9 or so."
Kian broadly smiles and places his hand behind his head all flustered.
A long pause later, I tell him, "Want to lay next to me? We can finish watching this movie and my parents just left me alone.."
"Yeah sure."
I move over all the way to the edge of my bed, and he gently lays beside me.
We remain quiet for a while until I decide to break the awkwardness once again.
