The morning assembly was simple and short. No long stories like the one's Tacha have always had at her former school. That made her love the new school the more.

"Hey newbie" a guy of average height called at her. Tacha looked up from the sausage she was about throwing in her mouth. "Are you talking to me?" Tacha asked surprised. The boy looked back, looking back he said plainly to her "who else is a newbie here". "Huh! Really? as you can see my name is Tacha mayor" pointing to the breast tag on her cloth then continued saying "even if I was to be called a wierd name isn't it supposed to be "transfer student?" Stressing on the word transfer student with an air quote.

As the boy was about talking back at her, another boy of almost same height walked up to Tacha and said to her ears "learn to always ignore people like him. That's for future purpose because already you are giving him a listening ear" the boy smiled, pocketed and left. Tacha amazed and surprised, looked back and called after the boy "hey! hey!". The boy stood on a spot then turned. " You are in my class right? " Tacha asked." Yes I am" the boy replied." Wow that's nice. I'm Tacha Mayor and you are? ". "William Jones" the boy replied. " Nice meeting you. I'll catch you later" Tacha said waving at him and moving towards the direction of the class. "And you too" Williams said smiling at her.

Tacha entered the class with the motive of talking to Dezerel about what she heard in class the other day. Searching through the class, she didn't find Dezerel on seat or anywhere near. She waited patiently for Dezerel to return to class.

During that period of waiting, Tacha decided to get to know her classmates. Turning back, she saw Pearl at her back sitting all alone. Looking round the class, she could see everyone were either in twos or threes but Pearl was all alone. Tacha who knew something was amiss was more bent on finding what exactly it is and to what it  seemed, almost everyone in their class had a hint on the matter with her as the exception. That gave her the fuel to push further in finding what it is.

Turning back and facing Pearl, Tacha said "hi" she could feel everyone's eyes on her face staring at her like any moment, they would swallow her up. Pearl ignored her looking down at her books. "I guess I'm talking to an human being right?" Tacha said ignoring the harsh glares from her classmates. "Huh! you wouldn't really want to be seen talking to me" Pearl finally said in a low tone using one side of her eyes to watch her classmates. "Why? Are you done sort of outcast or what? Why would you go through this alone". Tacha asked concerned. Pearl was taken aback a bit by Tacha's behavior because nobody has ever cared to ask her how she feels about the whole situation. "Well..." Pearl said as if she was about telling Tacha what exactly was going on,then she changed her mind."it's for the best you ignore me unless you want everyone to be against you" Pearl finally said picking her fingers. "Do you want to talk after school? Tacha asked.

At that moment, Dezerel entered into the class. She stood transfixed to one spot on sighting Tacha talking with Pearl. Since Pearl was facing the direction of the door to the class, she saw Dezerel enter the class. Pearl didn't respond again she just continued looking down. "Aren't you going to answer?" Tacha asked with a stern face. Dezerel stumped into the class moving straight to Tacha's seat. As she got there, without allowing Tacha to say anything, she pulled her out of the class to the corridor. "Oooh! Dezerel is becoming a protective friend" one of the classmates said. They all laughed together.

In the corridor, Dezerel scolded Tacha for not listening to her. "I told you that you shouldn't get involved with Pearl or anybody concerned with her matter" Dezerel said harshly. " Did you say anyone that's concerned with her matter? All I remember you saying is that I shouldn't get involved with Pearl and Lora. So you mean there are more people?" Tacha said non-stop. " Yes,there are more people but with time you'll get to know" Dezerel said leaving. " Is that all you'll tell me and you expect me to believe you? You won't even tell me what's going on so why shouldould I do all you say moreso, how sure I am that you are not part of the people I'm to stay away from" Tacha said angrily. Dezerel who was already leaving, stood at that spot then turned "it's all I can say and that's my own way of protecting you. You are new here and you don't know what's happening so it's best you don't get involved. And to assure you, I'm not involved in this case so you had better listen to me" Dezerel said and left abruptly. Thinking about it, Tacha couldn't make herself believe all Dezerel said because she was sure she heard Dezerel's name from the girls in the class the previous day which she knew had to do with the situation on ground.

"Tacha" the class representative called from the window of the class jilting her back from her thoughts. "Yes, how can I help you" she answered. "The homeroom teacher needs your attention right now" he said poking his head back into the class. Tacha walked smartly to the staff room. She got in, greeted the teachers and went straight to her homeroom teacher . "You called for me sir" Tacha said bowing a bit. "Yes I did. I'd love you to sign for a book. You'll have to do that in my absence. I'll be right back" Mr Kinsley said getting up from his chair and heading out of the staff room. Tacha took the plain sheet she is to sign on and filled in the necessary informations required of her. When she was done, she waited patiently for Mr Kinsley to return but he wasn't coming. It was almost time for the first period of the day. Tacha then decided to take the book, then inform him later that she has taken it. As she was looking for the book, a particular hard cover fell to the floor. In it were plain sheets of paper with some student names printed on it. "Oops....I'm sorry" Tacha said to no one in particular. She started picking up the papers and putting it back where she saw it. At that moment, Mr Kinsley walked into the staff room. Seeing what happened, he immediately walked over to his table. "Don't you ever touch anything on my table again" Mr Kinsley said almost shouting. "I'm sorry sir, I was only looking for the book I signed for. I wasn't looking through your table" Tacha said scared because Mr Kinsley looked very furious. " Fine. I've made myself clear and I'm sorry for scaring you" mr Kinsley apologized calmly. "Yes sir" Tacha said, picked up the book she signed for and ran out of the staff room. Walking through the corridor to her classroom, Tacha thought " why did he overreact when I didn't even mean to pull the books down. It's really not good for a man to be too sensitive" Tacha shrubbed the thoughts away and ran her remaining way to the class on hearing the bell for the first period.

The rest of the classes were all fun and Tacha made new friends that day which left out the thought of what happened in the staff room that morning. The bell for the close of school went off. All the students showed sign of excitement as they clustered together chatting their ways down to the school gate.

"Hey! Tacha wait up for me" Williams said running over to her. " Hey! Jones how are you doing?" Tacha said smiling. "Totally good. Do you walk yourself home? I'd love to walk with you so we can get to know each other better" Williams asked. " Yes I do but I'm going down through the left. Is that your direction too?" Tacha asked. " Not really, but for today" Williams said. "Fine then, let's go" Tacha said. They both walked themselves down the down left road talking, laughing and getting to know more about each other. As they were going along, there was always an number calling Williams which at intervals disrupted their discussion but he never for once picked it up. When Tacha had the opportunity to peep into his phone, she saw that the caller was an unknown number. "You should pick it up and tell the person it's a wrong number if not the person won't stop calling" Tacha said. " I'll do that later" Williams replied and they continued talking. The caller didn't cease calling but Tacha didn't comment anymore. "Goodbye Jones. I'll take this road to my home. See you tomorrow" Tacha said when they got to a T-junction. " Oh! That's okay then. See you tomorrow too" Williams replied smiling. They both changed directions waving at each other.
