Chapter 3
Connor
********************
A few days had passed ever since I was locked in the basement. At least, I think it was a few days. It was hard to keep track of time in here. I was really glad that I had found a couple of water bottles to keep me alive. I'm terrible hungry though. The only thing keeping me going is my sister. What is Casey doing now? I am really worried about what could be happening to her. Did she run out of food? Or did she slip and bump her head, falling unconscious?
Oh, all the possibilities. But most of all, I'm scared that she's angry at me for leaving without any notice. I wish there was some way for me to be able to reach her. If only I had learned Morse code at school. I had tried pounding on the door many, many times, but whenever I got close to the door, it seemed like all of my energy was emptying out of me. I could never reach it. As I was trying to reach the door once more, I could feel myself slowly losing consciousness. My heart was pounding. Right before I passed out, I was sure that I had seen the doorknob turn.

I'm scared.
Where is he?
Why did he leave me?
Oh, all these thoughts are driving me crazy! I've been huddled up in my room, going mad because of all these thoughts I've been thinking up. How could he have left me? We were supposed to stay together. I gave up hope; I just left myself to my room, only getting up to go to the bathroom or to get some food. I got off my bed and strode towards my bedroom window, searching for any sign that Connor is coming back. What if the killer got to him? No. Don't think like this. He is not dead.
Looking out my window, trying to find a sign of hope, I see a little blue butterfly with intricate designs on its back. I smiled as I thought of the nice butterfly. It gave me hope.
I jumped on my bed, big and lumpy, and tried to fall asleep. But just as I fell into to dreamland, I heard the front door break open.
