With pouted lips, she paced the length and breadth of her room in long strides, taking intervals to peek through her slightly opened door. She let out a groan like every other time she had gone to peek.

She was getting frustrated. This wasn't what she signed up for when she started the whole thing. The plan was to torment the girl till she ran away and not otherwise, but here she was being tormented by her, and even just by the innocent act of locking her self away in her room.

After another peeping that had assured her that the girl wasn't coming out of her room yet, she strode to her bed and flopped on it.

"I'm sure she is avoiding me." She murmured in a barely audible voice.

The images of some of the moments they met and her ever scared face popped into her head. She had really tormented the girl whom didn't deserve any bit of it. All she had ever done was to help her, but out of her chronic self-centeredness, she had pay her back with hostility.

Not only that, she had said things that she was sure had destroyed her. She saw it all as she could no longer raise her head even to walk, and that iota of sadness always remained even when she smiled. A sin with no atonement, no remedy.

Or maybe there was.

At the thought of that, she jumped up from the comfy mattress.

Yes! She could atone for her sins. She could make everything right again and then this torment would stop. All she needed was to restore what was lost, something that could never be bought with money, something that could never be substituted, something that came with nature but could still be invented, something that was given to few while a lot spend a whole lifetime faking, both knowingly and unknowingly, something that should make her forgive and forget the grudges bore against her.

CONFIDENCE.

Her confidence.Restoring her confidence would do the trick.

That being done would mean one of her miseries gone. One more soul appeased before her death. A large part of her duration in hell forgone.
