This is tragic. I hate this rain. It's not that I didn't generally enjoy it. I would just rather be out in the downpour instead of just watching.
I sighed and stared out the raindrop-ridden window of the Hogwarts Express. There was nothing else to do after all. The train was completely empty. That's what happens when you transfer a month late into the year.
Despite having enough time to get used to foreign school terminology, all I know is that I'm a second year. A second year from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United States.
It wasn't that hard to get used to the United Kingdom when I first moved here. My dad got a job here, so we packed up our stuff and made the move.
It's amazing how fast your life can change, and it seemed like it happened before I even had a chance to blink. It was similar to when I got the invitation to Ilvermorny.
But change always came easy.
I was given the option of staying at Ilvermorny, but I didn't really have a great connection with the place, and my mom has some health issues, so I wanted to stay close.
It was raining so hard that I could barely see the castle in the distance. That can't be the school... could it?
"Forget everything you know about normal school."
That's what Professor McGonnagal had said when she had visited my family a couple days before to sort out my "unique situation."
"It's going to be quite different than anything you'd expect, so keep an open mind."
Before I knew it the train stopped. I felt the pull in my seat as it slowed, and the wheels creaked and wailed. I looked up on the shelves above me to get my trunk and my owl, Indigo, but both the case and cage were gone.
"They'll be waitin' for you in what'er house yer sorted in," said a scruffy voice from outside the compartment.
I quickly stood and jumped in shock as I turned to see where the voice came from. He was huge.
I was able to make out an uncomfortable look on his face before he spoke in his rough voice again.
"D'ya mind hurryin up a lil? Bit cramp'd in 'ere." It was very cramped. The hallway of the train was certainly not made for him. I shook off my confusion on how one could be that giant, and I followed him as he shimmed his way out of the train onto the platform.
"Rubeus Hagrid," he introduced himself and helped me down the train steps, "Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. I'll be showin yer to the headmaster's office so you can get good and sorted eh?"
"Nice to meet you. I'm Bella Jones." I smiled up at him and received a surprised look.
"From the States eh?" he asked. He must've heard my accent.
I nodded.
"Not bad at all. Welcome to Hogwarts."

We had finally arrived at the headmaster's office after a very peculiar trek. The journey to the castle was weird enough, and the structural feat was even bigger when I had gotten to the threshold of it.Hagrid led me through so many hallways, or as he called them, "corridors," that I couldn't figure out where we had came from in the first place. It wasn't a big deal though. It was late, and the school was empty except for the professors patrolling it.
The headmaster's office was... well where was it? I looked to Hagrid, confused as to why we were just standing in front of a golden eagle statue embedded in the wall.
