Pixie came home this morning and went straight to her room to study.

"Pixie." I knocked on her door.

"Come in."

I entered the room and saw books everywhere. She laid on her bed and nibbles on a pen.

"You should take a little break." I went on my knees and neatly stacked her books.

"Dad, this is my exit exam, this will determine whether I get to graduate or not." She sighed and stretched her arms.

"I know. You do so well in school already. Just look at how well you did on your AP exams. I just don't want you overworking yourself." I sat beside her.

"I won't. I'm strictly studying, nothing will distract me, not even Ranger. That's why I came here." She rested her head on my arm.

"He won't last a day without you." I chuckled.

"I know, I'll go by him a little later." She sighed and flipped through the some papers. "There's a Fire Academy that also does EMT training. I started studying fire science on my own."

"I'll take a look at it, don't study too hard." I kissed her forehead. "There's breakfast downstairs if you want." I stood up.

"Thanks Dad." She smiled.

I smiled at her before exiting the room.

Hours later

𝙻𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚢

"Bruh, didn't she leave this mornin'?"  Zaya asked while we played 2k at Ranger's place.

"Yeah." I answered.

"Then why he actin' like that?"

I paused the game and we stared at Ranger who was  on the floor.

He was smokin' a swisher and holdin' a shirt that Pixie left. "An exit exam is more important than me?"

"Yeah nigga, who the fuck doesn't want their high school diploma?" I sucked my teeth.

"When y'all exit exam start?" Zaya asked.

"Wednesday. I'm gonna study when I get home later."

Zaya sighed. "I remember when I graduated high school."

"Man shut up." I rolled my eyes. "It was just last year, bein' all dramatic."

"She's such a hard worker." Ranger groaned. "I miss her."

"He's bout high as hell." Zaya leaned forward and laughed.

The door suddenly opened causin' Zaya and I to look up and Ranger didn't move an inch.

"Hey guys." Pixie greeted with a backpack on her.

"Baaaeee!" Ranger called out.

She made a strange while walkin' over to him.
