Chapter One

Nothing was the same after the war between the humans, werewolves, and vampires had happened. The humans went into hiding, and it killed almost the werewolves into extinction. There were at least 100 of them, and they took most of them to be slaves to the vampires. Speaking of vampires, they were the superior species. If they caught you walking the streets past sundown, they could either kill you, turn you, or take you to be a slave for them or the royal vampires. You can tell who is a vampire anymore. They have developed from not being able to walk in the sun, to walk down the street without burning. They look like humans except for the color of their eyes. Purple for kings and queens, olympian blue for princes and princesses, and red for regular vampires.

I was walking down the street, going home from work when I realized that the sun was setting, so I walked faster, taking the route I always take to go home. I knew if I didn't make it I could either get killed or taken, and I didn't want either. I was two steps before my house when I felt like someone was watching me. Me being me; I made the mistake in stopping when I felt someone grab me. I was getting ready to scream when I felt a hand over my mouth like they knew it was coming.

"Shh, please don't scream." The person said, taking their hand off of my mouth. I looked at them like they were crazy because I didn't know what was happening. I couldn't tell if they were a boy or a girl because they were wearing a hoodie. All I could see were their eyes, which looked blueish green, which I could tell were human eyes. Why the hell would someone grab me with just a hoodie on. It's not that cold out here. It's the middle of the summer.

"Are you crazy? Why are you grabbing?" The person took off their hoodie, and it was a girl. She was gorgeous, she had black flowy hair, and it was beautiful. She looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe I was because I have no clue why she is holding me here. She was getting ready to say something when something or someone moved down the sidewalk. I was getting scared. I could hear my heart beating in my chest.

"Look we need to get inside, they are coming for us." Oh my god, Oh my god. I thought to myself. I will die, I don't want to die. Why isn't she freaking out like I am? "Why are they coming for us, the sun isn't down yet," I said to her. I don't get it to do, they like torturing us. Looking around, I saw the figure getting closer and closer. It scared me that the air was getting thin. There was a ringing in my ears so deafening that I could barely understand what the girl was saying.

"WE NEED TO RUN." She said to me, I was ready to run. Getting a hang of myself, I started running without looking back. When I got to the end of the street, I looked back and realized that the girl was nowhere to be seen. That's when a terrifying scream rippled through the streets. No one could come to help. Everyone was too scared to leave their homes to help some strangers and risk getting killed, which wouldn't be any help to the people getting hurt. It scared me until I started running again, regretting not running into my house for safety. I don't understand why I didn't do that. I'm so stupid sometimes. I ran as fast as I could, but it was no use because I could hear footsteps behind me. I was so scared I didn't know what to do, I was growing tired and I didn't want to stop because I knew that I could die or get taken.

"There is no need to run. I am much faster than you are." He said, chasing me slowly. It's like he liked the chase because I was trying to run faster and it was slowing me down and he knew it. Not wanting to stop, I couldn't run any faster. I had to stop but was too scared too. Feeling arms wrap around my torso, I yelp out of fear. I didn't know what to do, and it was scary, I would die and there was nothing I could do about it, I couldn't run or talk my way out of dying. I knew the consequences of being out while it was dark. Looking up at the sky, I knew that it was way past sunset.

"Please let me go," I asked with tears brimming my eyes. Blinking my eyes, I didn't want him to see me cry, I didn't want to seem weak. They had spun me around where I could look him in the eyes. They were red. He was a normal vampire. Maybe I could get out of his grip. While he was holding me, I was looking for a way out. Figuring they are like a human and thinking they felt pain like. Bringing my knee up, I hit him where the sun doesn't shine. I instantly regretted it because he gripped my arm hard, pulling me closer to him.

"You shouldn't have done that." He said with his eyes getting brighter. He held me super tight, bringing his face to my neck. My heart racing knowing what will happen, I screamed feeling a sharp excruciating pain in the crook of my neck. Feeling tired I didn't want to sleep, I was scared I would die. Fighting the sleep as much as possible, I was getting weaker with every move and I welcomed the darkness.
