words; 1368You laced your fingers through your younger sister's hair. Her hair was silky and smooth and had a beautiful color. You listened to her hum a small tune, small and tiny.
You sometimes envied her, she is so young that she can still live carefree. You wish you still had that freedom, but since you were the eldest of all 5 of your siblings you had a lot of responsibilities and that burden doubled when your father died a year ago.
Making sure your younger sister's hygiene was good happened to be one of your chores.
"Y/N?" one of your younger siblings tugged on your sleeve.
"What is it Rin?" you questioned the young boy.
"Mother is calling for you again.." he said, still holding onto your sleeve. You stopped brushing your sister's hair and removed Rin's hand from your sleeve.
"Stay here with Rio and keep her company, okay Rin?"
He didn't answer he just sat next to her, so you took that as your answer. You walked inside, where your mother was sitting and feeding your younger sisters.
"Yes, mother?" You spoke. Your voice was soft, so you don't startle them.
"I need you to head into town, there is an old man awaiting you. I arranged for him to supply us with enough food to last the next couple years." She said.
I didn't question how she managed to arrange this, but I'm not gonna turn this down. This will help our family out so much. I bundled up and walked all the way into town.
I spent about an hour searching for an old man that would probably be the guy my mother is talking about. Eventually, he found me.
He was short, had a scar on his left cheek, walked with a cane, and wore a yellow kimono with triangle's on it.
"Are you Y/N?" He asked me.
I had to look down to see him eye-to-eye.
"Yes.. I'm Y/N L/N." I answered.
"Good, Zenitsu and I have been waiting." He grabbed onto my clothes and started walking somewhere.
"Zenitsu? Who's that?" I said, trying to keep pace with this surprisingly fast elder.
"Your mother didn't tell you? He's your fiancé, by the way, walk faster. You're slowing down."
I didn't hear what the old man said, I was trying to find out what he meant by fiancé. My mother wouldn't arrange for me to marry someone.. would she? I'm only 13.
I must've zoned out, because all of a sudden I'm questioning my mother and the next I hear a brown headed boy crying.
"You actually got me a fiancée! Grandpa!!"
I was about to protest but the boy latched himself to me.
"What's your name? When should we get married? Let's make it soon! How many kids should we have?"
I feel so overwhelmed right now. Thankfully the old man removed to boy from me.
"My name is Jigoro Kuawjima, and this is my student, Zenitsu Agatsuma. I promised to find someone to cherish as a reward for learning one form.."
I quit listening again.
Someone for him to cherish?
Aren't you supposed to find someone to cherish by yourself?
I'm not a pet.
"Y/N?" Jigoro said, bringing me out of my trance.
"I'm sorry.. I promised to be home by dinner.." I lied.
