Idea/Prompt: Café AU, an excuse for me to write about a person going to a café to see friends in the city while it rains. Then use it to fill in Hermits as the characters for an excuse to not think while writing a chapter.\

Platonic not Romantic!

I was randomly writing and I wrote this in a notebook but put no character names. Thank you Sapphire for helping me to find which characters fill what slot!

Also this chapter/part uses uncommon words that I have found and enjoy seeing. If you would like to know what any of them mean just ask in the comments!

--------------------------------------

I grabbed my coat and rushed out onto the city streets to see it raining. Gray clouds rolled over the sky, casting an unfamiliar darkness to the city. Buildings and streetlights were lit and shining there uncanny shapes into the thin layer of water that laid on the concrete and streets.

I ran down the sidewalk, water barely splashing from coating the surface below my feet. I came to a hault as I waited for the opportunity to cross the street.

As I stood there , I took the chance to examine the reflections more. On the road there were pale yellow and bright red lights cast into it and the faint colors of the cars. The tall buildings framed the streets with their faint reflections finding there way into the water. The sight was ineffable.

The lights finally changed and I cross the street quickly, not wanting to waste any time. I pass a hobbledehoy, their white hair falling a bit in front of an eye. Their hood was up and they covered their mouth with a mask. I give a friendly smile and wave. To my surprise they wave back, a small difference in their mask. They probably smiled.

I finally arrived at my destination, a small local café on a street corner. I enter the establishment, the scent of coffee instantly hitting me. I sometimes wish the sillage could last forever.

"Doc!" A familiar voice calls out, breaking my train of thought.

I turn to my side to see my small friend group huddled up in the back corner of the café. I wave before walking up to the counter and order my usual. The person behind the counter, Ren, and I are acquaintances. We went to the same highschool but didn't know each other well. He made my drink quickly and, with a smile, hands it to me. I smile back, taking it from his hands. I walk to the corner my friends were and sit down.

"How are you today?" Grian asks in a ludic tone.

"Alright," I said with a smile present on my face.

Across the table from where I sat, Xisuma had his face pressed into a book. The pages and words lightly reflected onto his glasses. I tapped on his arm, getting his attention. He looked up, confused to why someone was taking him out of his own world. I just smile and wave at hi, he returns the smile before continuing to read.

I look out the window with False, who I had sat beside, she turns to me and says, "I wish I could just capture this small event."

"Morri," Xisuma says from across the table, his eyes still on the book.

"What?" I ask. I take a small sip of my beverage, making me just that bit warmer.

Xisuma says, "Morri, the desire to capture a fleeting, or fast pace experience."

I sit back and nod. I look back to the side and watch the rainfall. The warm yellow light from inside, scatters along the sidewalk.

"I enjoy these kinds of days. Just rainy days," I say smiling.

"Chrysalism, the amnotic tranquility of being indoors during a thunderstorm," Xisuma says, shutting his book and setting it aside.

"Stop using big word, you know we're not that smart." Iskall randomly came into the conversation, not that we minded.

"Just don't be a morosis. Morosis just means the stupidest of the stupidies," Xisuma says with a smile playing on his lips.

"Well on a rainy day being inside is like a querencia," I say smiling.

The rest of the time was just spent enjoying each other's presence in the corner of the cafe in the big city. Anyone passing by could see it as a scene from a movie. A group of friends just hanging out on a rainy day. In my opinion, the perfect experience.
