The Shy One ~ Tanaka x Reader

Chapter 5

(Y/N) POV~
Basically everyday Tanaka and Nishinoya approach me, sometimes both of them, sometimes one at a time, or sometimes only one of them, but every time it's to ask me if they can walk me home, mainly because of Kiyoko. Even thought they've never told me that, I can tell. They've done this for three weeks now.

Today Nishinoya has already asked me, which was at the start of the day when I was walking to class. Kiyoko was helping Yachi with something, so I was sitting under a tree eating my lunch, alone. I was thinking about what song I should start learning to play on the piano next, that I haven't played yet, when someone sits next to me, Tanaka.

"Oh, Nishinoya already asked, I said yes," I say already knowing what he planned to ask. "Oh, okay," He said, still sitting beside me. 'Why isn't he leaving?' I thought to myself. Usually with Tanaka he'll either sit down or just stand there and ask then ask me some other question and leave.

"So how long have you been playing the piano?" He asked. "Umm.. since I was 5," I said, "My grandmother taught me." It felt nice to be asked a question about myself, since people don't usually do that. "Nice," He smiled, still sitting beside me. We sat silently for a minute until he spoke again.

"Do you want to watch us practice today?" he asked, "I know you get scared easily so you don't have to if it's too far out of your comfort zone." "I guess," I say. I had actually wanted to go and watch them practice for awhile now, since I've gotten a bit better with talking to new people.

"Okay, I'll see you then," He gets up from where he sits excited and runs off.

~Time Skip~

"You're coming to watch?" Kiyoko asks surprised while I walked to the gym with her and Yachi. I had become friends with Yachi over time after Kiyoko introduced us. "Yup!" "Be careful not to get hit by a ball," Yachi tells me. She stares of into the distance, I assume remebering a time she was hit by one of the balls. "I will," I say, smiling. I'm both nervous and excited to go and watch.

We got to the gym after Yachi and Kiyoko changed and I walked in with them. I followed Yachi to a bench and sat down, she told me again to be careful not to get hit by a ball and I nodded. A few of the boys were already there and looked at me a few times but none of them came to talk to me.

"(Y/N)!" I heard someone yell, and I let out a small scream, as I jumped slightly on the bench. I turn around to see Tanaka and Nishinoya walking in. "Why are you here?" Nishinoya asked confused. "Tanaka invited me," I said. A few of the boys from the team looked over at us for a bit confused, but went back to practicing. "Why didn't I think of that?!" Nishinoya said, shaking his head as he walked away. "Thanks for coming," Tanaka said smiling, and I nodded.

They began practice and I don't know why I've never come to watch, or gone to watch their games before, well I know why, people, but I could have watched on TV. I watched as they practiced and at some point a ball started to come towards me. It was about to hit me in the face but was knocked away. I looked up to see Tanaka.

"Are you okay (Y/N)?" He asked looking at me, a bit worried. "Mhm," I hummed as I nodded. Although I was just scared of having a ball coming towards my face, I was fine, I'm not injured. "Good," He smiled and lightly pat my head before going back to practice.

They were practicing again after the short ginger came over and started apologizing to me for almost hitting me in the face. At some point Tanaka took his shirt off and started swinging it around. I looked away as I felt my face heat up. I know I've only known him for about three weeks but I may have already started to develop a crush on him... and anyways he's shirtless.

Practice soon ended and Tanaka and Nishinoya started to walk Kiyoko and I home. Kiyoko went into her house and I walked to the next house, my house, to see a girl walking out of the front door with my brother behind her.

I stopped walking and watched, to see them kiss. Tanaka and Nishinoya were behind me, since they usually wait until I'm in my house or by my door to leave. They used to just leave, but now that were friends, at least I think we are, and they say we are. They wait to make sure I get inside before leaving.

"(Y/N), there is a strange man in your house," Nishinoya tells me. "He's my brother," I inform him. "Then that must be his girlfriend right?" Tanaka says. "I guess," I say, watching him talk to her, "I didn't know he had one."

I start walking towards my house again and the two boys follow me and we stop at the end of the drive way as I look at my brother confused. "Oh, (Y/N) what are you doing home?" He asks surprised, and slightly panicked. The girl beside him smiles and waves at me.

"You must be his sister, I've heard lots about you," She smiles. "Who are you?" I ask staring at her. "I'm his girlfriend, it's nice to finally meet you," She says smiling.

"Ya nice to meet you," I say, still confused. "I'll see you tomorrow?" She asks my brother, and he nods. She starts walking away and gives me a small wave. "See you tomorrow (Y/N)," Nishinoya says before walking off. "I'll see you tomorrow (Y/N), thanks for coming to practice," Tanaka says with a smile, following him.

"See you," I say before walking towards my brother. I walk past him, and inside, closing the door behind me, and locking it. He runs to the door and starts trying to open it while knocking. "Come on (Y/N) open the door," He yells, banging on the door. "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"Because I know how you are with meeting new people," He says. "You could have at least told me you had a girlfriend," I say. Of course he's always telling me about how if I ever get a boyfriend he has to meet him right away, but he has a girlfriend and he doesn't even tell me?

"I was going to," he says as he falls into the house since I opened the door, which he was leaning on. I looked down at him and crossed my arms. I would stomp on his face, but I like to think of myself as a nice person, even though I do think of stomping on his face a lot. "I was going to tell you tomorrow, I was going to have her come over and I was going to introduce you two.'

"So if I get a boyfriend you have to meet him right away, but when you get a girlfriend I find out by coming home early? Real fair," I say. "I'm sorry," He says.

"Whatever," I say walking off to our piano room.  I opened the door and realized something was off. I went to the piano and ran my fingers across the keys. "Who touched my piano?" I yelled stomping out of the room. "My girlfriend, she plays the piano too," My brother says falling back onto the floor.

"So you have a girlfriend and didn't tell me, and she plays the piano. You then let her play THIS piano out of the two we have in the house?! You know how I feel about that! I'm coming for your ankles you asshole!" I yell as I run after him.
