"Congratulations, 24. You are now the best asset we have."
He just sat there. Saying nothing.
"From now on. You will be sent for tasks."
He said "tasks" a little slowly as if pondering over it.
"You may now go to your cell and get some rest."
He got up and without a word went out of the chamber. Outside he went to the floor where his cell was present by stairs.
The guard guarding the floor saw him and nervously came towards him.
"Hey, Sam. Did they go easy on you today?"
"I'm 24."
"Hey hey now mate. That's not true." He looked here and there and then said in a hushed tone."These guys are just messing with you."
He continued again, this time even more scared. "D'you wanna know the truth about this 'country' of yours?
He didn't reply and stared impassively at him.
The guard took a deep breath and almost whispered. "This whole building is just a damned undercover assassin company. These guys just take money from big people for killing their enemies or rivals in business or some shit."
"To them you are just a tool mate. Follow my heed and just get the flying shit outta here. Live a life like everyone."
He still didn't say anything and kept looking at him without any emotion.
The guard sighed and looked up towards the roof. "I too didn't know anything about this hell. I'm just working for some damned bucks. You can go out and live a good life."
Sam or 24 quietly went away towards the stairs.
"Hey Sam where are you going. Your cell's here."
No reply and he disappeared.
The guard looked again at the roof and muttered "only if I could..."
He couldn't complete as he saw Sam return with someone.
The man approached him.
" So you're the one who doesn't know where to keep his frigging nose."
The guard stepped back and looked at Sam who was just looking at him without any emotion. The man took out a silenced pistol.
"WHY Sam? WHY?"
He fell down, his eyes still in shock over his fate. Still staring at Sam whose eyes stared back at him more lifeless.
