Chapter 1 - The Outbrake

Hello, dear reader! I guess that you are familiar with The Last Of Us game. If not I suggest to play or watch it, or read the Names, Nicknames and Explonation chapter in this story, as it essetial to the story. Please be informed that English is not my first language so if you spot any grammar mistakes I'm deeply sorry for that. This chapter will pretty much be the same as in the game because my characters are appearing later in the story. This story won't be an exact copy of the game. But I'm sure you read description of the story so without any further delays. Enjoy!

Joel's P.O.V.

I was just on phone with my brother Tommy, we argued about some client of mine from work. Must've been pretty loud cuz' I've woken Sarah up. "How is it you're not in bed yet?" I asked her a little angry from the call. "I was waiting for you to come home." She answered. -"Go to bed. It's late Sarah." I yawned. -"What? What's the time?" She asked while looking at the clock above our heads. -"I would say about 11:30 pm." -"Close 11:25." Sarah pulled something from under the couch. -"Sarah what are you doing?"-"It's still not tomorrow. Witch means it's still your birthday. Happy birthday dad!" She smiled and gave me small box. When I opened it there were new watch. "I heard you complaing about broken watch all the time so I got you a new ones. Do you like it?" Sarah asked. "Honey it's really nice but.... but I think they're broken." I joked. -"What? No. No. No." She says looking at them. "Oh Ha Ha." Sarah loughes sarcastically whe she notice. About an hour she fell asleep and I carried her upstairs to her room.

Sarah's P. O. V.

I was woken up by a phone. Who's calling me at this time? I picked up the phone. "Hello? Who's there?"-"Sarah it's me Tommy." The man in phone explained. -"I need to speak to your dad honey. Is he home?" Tommy said with terrified voice."What? Uncle Tommy what's wrong?"-"Sarah I can't explain it now, you need to-" The call cut off.-"Just great." I sigh. I looked for my father but he was nowhere to be found. I noticed his phone in the kitchen. 12 missed calls, 8 new messeges, all from uncle Tommy. "Where are you?!?!!? Call me! On my way." I read the messeges but didn't get what's going on here. I'll try his office. As expected he wasn't there, I was really starting to get worried. All of a sudden he rushed in from our backyard. "Sarah! Are you allright? -"Yes of course. Why wouldn't I be?" He didn't answer to that just went looking for something in the drawers. -"Did anybody come in here, honey?"-"No, why would anybody come in here dad? You're starting to freak me out." I asked afraid of his answer. "It's Petersons, they're sick. Don't go near the door." He said while loading his gun. I had to see what's going on, so I went to the glass door. Not even a second after that our neighbor Jimmy jumped to the door trying to break in. He was different, feral. As I got scared I jumped back behind my dad. Jimmy broke through and dad aimed his gun at him.-"Jimmy don't come any closer! I'm warning you! Jimmy don-" BANG! Jimmy rushed towards us and dad shot him. At this point I really have no idea what's going on. I'm trembeling. -"Jimmy, you. You shot him. I spoke with him this morrning and-" Dad puts his hands on my shoulders. "Sarah I know this must be hard for you but we've gotta run." A car parked infront of our house.-"That must be Tommy, c'mon honey." Then he takes my hand and we go. -"Joel where were you godammit?!?? Is that blood?"-" It's not mine don't worry." We got in the car and drove outside the city. But when we got to highway it was completely blocked. "Shit!" Tommy said angrily. -"Looks like the whole town got the same idea." We tried to find another way through the city, everybody was running and screaming like they lost their minds. All over a sudden there was a car on the left going right at us. "Look out!" Then everything went black.

Joel's P. O. V.

"Dad? Dad wake up! Are you okay?" I was woken up by Sarah. It seems the car is on it's side. "Yes honey, hold on I'll get us out of here." I kicked the front widow until it crashed. When I got out someone attacked me, didn't really look like he knows what he's doing. I put my hand to his neck trying to keep him away. I was lucky that Tommy was there, he shot him. -"Are you alright?" -"Yes. How about you Sarah?" I asked my daughter while I helped her get out of the car. -"Ow! My leg hurts." -" How bad?" -" Pretty bad."
Shit! Just what we needed. -" Okay honey come here." I picked her up and carried her through the city. -"Dad the people are on fire." She said so quietly I almost didn't hear. -"Don't look Sarah it's gonna be okay." We ran to the nearest pub and closed the door. It didn't hold them for long. -"Go! I'll cover you!" Tommy said. -" Not a chance I'm leaving you behind!" -"Go! you have to carry Sarah, I can outrun them." There was no time to argue. So I ran with Sarah in my arms, out of the city. There were two of those things chasing me. This is it, they got me. But just in a nick of time someone shot them. BANG! BANG! I looked to see who it is. A soldier, finally. -" Sarah it's okay we are safe now."I said walking towards him. -"Stop!" He yelled. "I think my daughter has broken leg and-."STOP RIGHT THERE!!" He aimed his rifle at us. -" Woah! Listen we're not s-sick." The soldier looked at us for a while and then contacted someone on the radio of his. -"Sir I've got two civilians here." I couldn't understand what the person on the other side was saying. -" Sir there's a little girl." Again the voice. -"But Sir."........"Yes Sir." Then he turned at us. -"Listen buddy we just went through hell-." Then he raised his rifle. I tried to turned around to protect Sarah. BANG! BANG! BANG! I fell and dropped Sarah. The soldier came to me to make sure I'm really dead. -"Please no." I begged him. BANG! His body fell lifeless on the ground. I looked around and see Tommy. -" Oh no." I looked at what he was facing. Fuck! "NO! Sarah!" Sarah had a gunshot wound in her stomach. I picked her up and put my hands on the wound. She cried out in pain. -"Shhh, I know it hurts I know. Just hold on, you're gonna be okay. Stay with me Sarah." Then I heard no more crying. -"Sarah? Baby?" At this point I just hugged her not wanting to let her go. -"God please no! No, Don't leave me. Please, please don't leave. Please!"

Well, this is the end of the first chapter.
Hope you liked it. I mean my writing style. As I said characters that I added will come later in the story but until then I will try to stay as much close to the original story as I can. This chapter was short but it's only becouse it's begining others will be much longer. I hope you'll keep reading.
