maison's pov
ʀᴜᴅʏʏᴀɴᴋs ᴏɴ the blanket we're supposed to be sharing. it slides off my legs exposing my sweatpants and instantly chilling my feet. "rudy!" i complain. he wraps himself up like a burrito and rolls away from me halfway onto drew's lap.
"is she being mean to you?" drew coos, petting rudy's hair.
"wha-" i'm cut off by madison snickering as jonathan laughs.
"it's okay mac, you can come lay with me." austin opens his arms from where he's sprawled out on the l-shaped portion of maddie's couch. i stand up to go lay with him but arms lock around my waist and pulls me back down.
"i was just kidding! i can't believe you'd leave me like that." rudy mumbles into my neck.
we've landed awkwardly but it's strangely comfortable. i'm leaning against chase's chest with my butt on the couch, but my legs are strewn over drew's lap. rudy was laying over drew's thighs but had his arms locked around my waist, laying fully on me with his head in the crook of my neck.
i hope he can't hear my heart beating.
"well hey." chase says cheerily.
"hi." i answer. he wiggles his arm out from beneath me and throws it over my shoulder. he smacks rudy's back but rudy doesn't even react.
"wow rudy." austin scoffs. "just gonna steal my best friend like that? okay."
he pouts and turns away from us, hiding his face in jonathan's blanket.
"if i wasn't trapped i'd come lay with you." i say, trying to make him feel better. i knew he was just teasing but i still felt bad.
"she's ours now sorry." drew says, sticking his nose up. chase nods in agreement and pats my head.
madelyn snorts from chase's right. "yeah okay. austin would fight all of you but it's fine we'll ignore that."
this sends everyone into a laughing fit as we imagine austin physically fighting the other boys for me.
at this point we've completely forgotten about the movie playing on the tv as austin and jonathan wrestle around on the floor.
as we laugh, i glance around at all my friends. never did i think that i'd gain so much from filming one show, but i'll be forever grateful to jonas for giving me this opportunity.
these people were my family. not everyone gets to say they have one. i'll treasure mine forever.
