A girl like any other. Battling her way through the labyrinth called life. Tired of just breathing and wanting to live a life of fantasy.
Along with all these battles one of them is the war to win her own heart over. To become her own influencer. To...
This time I was caught of guard when he looked straight back at me. He was no longer smiling though. His gaze was calculating and smoldering and I was quick to look away as I pretended like I was just looking around. Staring off around the spaces near to him. After scanning the crowd to help with my pretense for a little while longer, all while wondering and so badly wanting to check if he was still looking, I finally turnt back around with my cheeks warmer than they were before. "He's a junior as well you know?" Sandra commented, but I chose to ignore her comment with feigned nonchalance. The assembly commenced as the principal, a dark haired woman, who looked to be in her mid 30's, entered the room. The hall became silent and a raw air of authority surrounded us. Everyone seemed to not only fear, but respect the woman. Even with a smile on her face, she seemed intimidating. "Good morning school!" She exclaimed with a deep firmness and enthusiasm, that I'd never seen in a school staff member before. "Good morning Miss Peletsine!" The whole room boomed with just as much enthusiasm and respect, with beaming faces that actually seemed to be happy to see her. This was by far the most strangest thing I'd ever seen. "Why so formal?" She replied with a slight chuckle. "What's up miss P!" They exclaimed back. As I gaped silently. "Hey Reddam!" She exclaimed. "Say what!" The students exclaimed back. "Guess what." She whispered loudly into the mic she was using. "What's up!" They exclaimed. "We are back again people." She said into the mic. Everyone groaned and moaned this time round and she... she...laughed? She straight up laughed and said, "Reddam we are back and this year is going to be our year. We have a whole year of fun planned out for you. Now I'm talking about 6 hours of learning and even more hours of homework. So... are you ready!" "No!" The whole school hollered. "To bad, neither am I. Ok! Let's get back to the agenda. I'd like to welcome all new students and old students back to Reddam Academy. I'd also like to congratulate you all for the privilege to be attending such an esteemed school. Most importantly I'd also like to thank you for entrusting all of your young and beautiful minds to Reddam academy. We promise to serve you well and we promise a year of true fun and learning. Now, this year we have a few minor changes. Mr Wilson retired and therefore class j-B will be assigned to a new member of our staff, everyone welcome Mr West." She said with the brightest smile I've ever seen on a principal as everyone else clapped their hands
Mr West stood up from the seats designated to the teachers on the sides of the hall. Students were sat in the middle, most probably for a more convenient way of monitoring the students, who I must mention were too well behaved for high school students . "We hope you settle in well Mr West. Mr West will also be taking up all of classes previously assigned to Mr Wilson. This year we will also be putting more pressure on compulsory clubs, as every learner should partake in at least one cultural AND sports club. We would also like to emphasize on certain mobile phone usage rules. All and I mean all mobile phones are to be left in lockers during lessons or they will be confiscated for a week! Only iPads will be permitted in classrooms and again I'll emphasize that no non-educational applications may be downloaded on the iPads! Ok that's all for today, we hope you enjoy your first day back and for the new students good luck." She finished of with yet another bright smile. "You don't wanna mess with that lady." Sharron commented with a sigh. In the background I heard teachers instructing students on how to orderly exit the assembly hall. I was deep in my mind. My heart was loudly racing again. My feet and hands trembling as I anticipated what was to come. I couldn't help it really, my mind was in override and the E-monster was taking over. My eyes were blurring. I became even more anxious with the thought of everyone seeing that side of me, that too on my first day. In my mind I had already imagined how the whole thing was going to play out.
The end of my social life. I could already feel my heart break as I imagined myself getting shunned and ridiculed. My head was spinning. I heard Sandra calling my name a few times but it all came out so muffled. My eyes kept on wondering all around the room as more and more people drifted towards the exit. It was as if I were searching for someone, anyone. I never could speak in these moments, if I tried I'd be a stuttering, embarrassing mess. My throat would feel clogged up and the muscles necessary for speech, completely paralyzed.
I desperately tried showing it in my eyes. I really wanted someone to see that I needed help. My eyes were glazed over in desperation unwilling to give in. But I felt myself slipping towards the edge that would be a seizure.
