Chapter 4 - Letting Him Know

When I saw his video, I flipped.

And not in a good way.

People were tweeting about it and I noticed. Some were even saying that it was about me, so I clicked on it and braced myself.

His eyes looked full of sorrow and hurt, but I knew his looks were deceiving. And to put something like that in public? He knew people were going to know it was about me.

I angrily stormed out of my bedroom and called Faith, who answered on the second ring.

"Faith-"

"I saw it," she cut me off.

"I'm so angry right now," I said.

"Why? He's apologizing! It's so romantic!" Faith reasoned.

"I can't just accept it. He broke my heart just because..." I couldn't even say it. I was out with Jordan and we were laughing about something, and someone took a picture of it and sent it to Julio, and he flipped out.

And now he's apologizing?

I can't.

"Maybe you need to just put it in the past. It might take a few days, but maybe this is an opportunity to reconcile with him."

"Okay," I knew in my heart that a few days wouldn't be enough. I don't think time can mend how I feel.

"I miss you in Michigan," Faith changed the subject. I silently thanked her, because I had a feeling that talking about that for any longer would seriously anger me. And I feel like she knew that too.

"California is really boring, especially because Mr. Heartbreaker goes to my school," I sighed.

"You're kidding. Brooke, please tell me you're kidding."

"Nope. Cliché, huh?" I sarcastically answered.

"You have to be joking. That can't be a coincidence..."

Faith got me thinking. She's right; it can't be. My luck is pretty terrible, but not even my luck was that bad.

"My dad... He came here because of his 'job'," I figured out, "Faith, I have to go."

"By-" I hung up before she could finish. I felt bad, but this was urgent.

I rushed downstairs to face Lenny and my mom, but no dad.

"Where's dad?" I angrily asked.

"At his new job. Why? Are you okay?" My mom worriedly asked in response.

"Why did we move here, Mom?"

Maybe she knew.

"Because... your dad got transferred to a new factory," She answered, but it sounded more like she was questioning it herself.

"Please tell me you know the truth."

"Brookie," she used my nickname, probably because she wanted to calm me down somehow, "That is the truth."

"You're lying," I crossed my arms across my chest.

My mom sighed, "Fine. I'll tell you the truth.

Lenny suddenly became much more interested in our conversation.

"Your dad thinks Julio is right for you, so he moved you to where he lived, so you can resolve whatever's going on between you two."

I suddenly got a huge headache, and I felt the world spinning.
