Izuku sat in the waiting room with the rest of his class, waiting for their signal to enter the arena. He was suddenly approached by Todoroki.
"Midoriya." He said.
"Yes Todoroki?" Izuku asked.
"You are indisputably the strongest in the class.. no, the school. I will defeat you and be victorious by the end of the festival." Todoroki challenged.
Izuku smiled.
"Well, do your best. It's been a while since I've had a good fight. I hope you live up to my expectations." Izuku replied.
Izuku turned to the class.
"In fact!" He said. "I want you all to do your best! If we end up against or alongside eachother, go all out!"
Many of his classmates cheered, just as Present Mic announced the start of the festival, their cue to head out.
1A stood amongst the other first year students, listening as Present Mic introduced each class. Midnight stood up on stage, and called up an unsurprised Izuku."And our first year representative will be opening the festival! Izuku Midoriya, please come up!" She said.
Izuku stood beside Midnight, looking over his classmates. He took the proffered microphone and spoke.
"Welcome everyone. I'd just like to say, do your best! It doesn't matter what kind of quirk you have, as long as you use all of your abilities to their fullest, it dosent matter if you win or lose. You can happily say you did your very best, and will strive to improve and do better! So go beyond! Plus Ultra!" He said.
1A cheered the loudest, but the classes with students who's quirks were unsuited for the entrance exam cheered also. Izuku smiled, stepping back down to stand amongst his classmates.
Midnight stood before a large wheel, with various events listed upon it. She spun the wheel, shouting out the event to the crowd once it had stopped.
"The first event will be an obstacle race! Contestants, make sure you get into position!" She said.
Present Mic continued explaining the route of the course to the crowd. Izuku didn't bother listening. UA's sports festival had used the same route for the Obstacle course for a few hundred years now. It wasn't a common event, due to the complexity of it's setup, but it turned up enough for Izuku to be sure.
The obstacles themselves however, could be anything. The first one was always the same though. The exit from the arena.
Midnight called the start, and Izuku flew upwards using the winds around him. He looked ahead, noticing Todoroki's ice trapping many of the contestants. Izuku chuckled, turning the Ice into water and freeing the other contestants.
Izuku flew forwards, over the heads of most of the students, landing and running behind Todoroki, melting the ice at his feet by heating the air around himself.
*I'm glad Nezu altered my quirk registry. I get to fight on equal grounds with most of the hero course now.*
Todoroki glanced back, not surprised Izuku was gaining on him. He seemed annoyed his ice was innifective against Izuku.
Izuku ran past Todoroki, taking the lead. He watched amusedly as zero pointer robots rose out if the ground. Izuku heard many of the non hero course students exclaiming about the robots.
Izuku grinned, sweeping his hand in an arc upwards, moulding the earth around the robot's tracks upwards, and blowing a gale into the robot's faces. Every zero pointer tipped backwards, landing with a thump.
Every student apart from 1A, and the entire audience were amazed. This kid just took out the entire first obstacle in seconds.
Izuku wasn't done however, waving his hand to hollow out the earth beneath the fallen robots, then covering the holes up again.
Izuku continued running over the now unobstructed flat field.
A few minutes later, Izuku came to the Fall. He just kept running over the pit, cushioning his steps with air. Once again, the rest of the first years and the audience were in awe. He was just running on air like he did it every day!
Todoroki slid o we the ropes connecting the pillars rising from the pit, while Bakugo, in hot pursuit of Izuku, blasted himself over the gap.
Izuku came to the minefield at a leisurely pace. He looked back, noticing Todoroki and Bakugo, neck and neck, hit on his tail.
Izuku turned back to the minefield, running forwards. He lifted small chunks of earth from the ground, hopping across them.
Izuku stared intently at the earth, his entire focus on the floating dirt. He delicately lifted the pieces ahead of him, and gently placed them back down behind him.
He also disturbed the top layer of earth just above the mines as he passed them, hiding the marks left behind by whoever planted the mines in the first place.
Izuku chuckled darkly as the crowd far behind him cursed at the now unmarked earth before them.
Present Mic shouted into the microphone about his sneaky move, while Aizawa was secretly amused.
Izuku crossed the finish line, making the audience cheer loudly. Izuku sighed, sitting on the floor, waiting for the other students to arrive.
Soon enough, Todoroki and Bakugo crossed the finish line, both seeming to be irritated at Izuku and eachother.
Izuku stood chuckling, turning to face Midnight once again as she announced the next event.
"The next event will be.. a cavalry battle! In teams of 3 or 4, you will carry one 'rider' chosen from among your groups around the arena. The rider will be wearing a headband with a number of points written on it. The amount of points on your headband will be a combination of the total points of your teammates earned during the obstacle race! Last place earned 5 points, the next received 10 and so on. The exception to this continuous rise is first place, who will get 10,000,000 points!" She explained.
Izuku smiled to himself. This was going to be too easy.
Midnight continued. "Your objective is to ride around, defending and taking headbands from eachother!"
Every first year who passed the first event were staring at Izuku.
Izuku merely smiled back.
*Little do they know, the teams with higher points got those points for a reason. They used their abilities to the fullest in the first event. Except me. I held back significantly.*
"You have 15 minutes to form your teams! Go!" Midnight shouted.
