At the age of 14 you get a name on your arm. It's always there, whether you like it or not. And the name is a full name. It's your soulmate. Some people can get more than one name, however most people get just the one.
Sirius was nearing his 14th and even though he acted excited, he was incredibly nervous.
On the night before, he was very jittery. James tried distracting him from it and Peter did whatever James did but it was unsuccessful. Remus stayed and suggested they stay up until his word was revealed.
At 12 midnight, Sirius checked his arm. And at 12 midnight, he saw the words etched into his skin. The words read Remus Lupin. And then he freaked out.

James had been trying to calm his friend down for days, without much luck. Sirius was scared. Not just scared terrified. The name was not just of his BEST FUCKING FRIEND but of a male, halfblood werewolf.
His family would have none of it. If his family knew, boy would he be in trouble. And then he'd be promptly disowned, which he wasnt ready to do just yet.
No one could get him from the cocoon of blankets he had wrapped himself in. Sirius wouldnt eat, wouldnt talk and wouldnt come out. Mc Gonnagoll had tried to get the student out of the bed but even she saw that he wasnt going to.

Remus was at an utter loss for his friend. He couldnt sleep because of it. He would just look over and see the shape trembling and crying and he was so welled up with guilt that he couldnt be helped.
People tried getting him out but there was no luck. No luck at all.

Eventually Sirius left. That was the day he vowed to wear long sleeved shirts and oversized jumpers to hide it. That was the day he lied.
James and Peter were scared for their friend because it was clear he was lying. They could all tell. They just didnt want to upset him. And Remus' birthday was coming up soon.
