Another queen the king in the north

Chapter ten

Kaine picked up a bow while she heard Robb searching for arrows as well. The king had invited them to a hunting trip and Robb did really force Kaine to come along as she refused and wanted to learn knitting from Sansa and Arya also tried to keep her at Winterfells as she wanted her to show her how to wield a sword. But Robb insisted on her saving him from the chatter of old people.

Kaine hated everything about that trip. She hated the weather and the way Alba did her hair it was awfully uncomfortable and she wanted to itch it all the time, it wouldn't take long until she would untie it or rip it out. Her horse was being prepared along with the horses of the other lords that were accompanying the trip. Next to her steed those ordinary horses looked weak and boring. She knew it was his little bit of magic fooling her to believe that. They were meant to be admired and feared, born to be beautiful, born to be magic. Kaine let her hand run over his grey fur before fixing the bow she choose onto her saddle that had been covered in a fur to prevent her from freezing more than necessary.

"Are you alright? You looked like you swallowed a bag of lemons in there" Robb stepped past her with a cheeky grin stopping at the pointy horn of the horse before glancing to his owner.

"I'm not in the mood for a hunt with old men talking about tragic war stories and laughing about tits" She moved closer to him so nobody else could hear them. His smile grew shyly as she looked into his face intensively.

"Just smile and shout something then it wouldn't be so bad after all. And you'll see more of my home" He smiled making the room a little warmer around them."and the king loves hunts"

"I'm going to be a queen and I hate hunts" She smirked und the same flirtatious way as he was looking at her rose cheeks in the cold stable.

"That's one way to see it" Robb chuckled before leaving her as the rest of the party gathered in the courtyard.

Kaine looked towards the lords wondering in which corner her brother might be hiding to avoid this trip since he most certainly wasn't anywhere to be seen, just like Jon and Theon which made her even more uncomfortable because the only person even close to her age was Robb. She swung herself onto the horse with ease unlike the older lords making her cringe in disgust even. They were so weak yet the men admired them. The knight that tried to dance with her the other night caught her eyes. If her brother would face any princesses then he'd look like that one day with his slick hair that was shiny like butter. He was that kinda person who's head she chopped off in battle with great satisfaction in her imagination.

"Hallo, my princess" He made his perfect black horse stand right next to hers while the rest of the lords mounted their horses as well still taking their time.

"A pleasure to see you again, M'lord-" She forgot which house he belongs to but she suggested it was Lannister judging from his blonde hair and the naturally smug look on his face.

"Lannister, Jaime Lannister. Princess Dantis, how do you like the north so far? " He send her another smile while the party set off out of the gate into the wildness of the north.

"It's very much different from my home but it's a comfortable change" She lied very well to the lords face.

"I once saw the isles just very shortly. It was the most beautiful place I ever saw" Kaine could hear the truth in his voice when he said that.

"I would love to see everything Westeros has to offer but I fear that my home is the most beautiful place in this whole universe" A shiver ran down her spine as she thought about the heat she missed so dearly.

"I can only agree" Jaime seemed almost sad or rather melancholic about the isles maybe even jealous that it wasn't his own home, Kaine thought.

"I'll be looking forward to see my new home then" Robb cut in trotting up to them with a huge smile towards Jaime as if he was trying to shine so bright to punch Jaime in his face with the brightness.

"Success on the hunt then" Jaime felt how Robb was taking his designed place next to Kaine.

"You to" Kaine said finally making him trot off towards the front of the party as the two youngsters claimed the very back.

"I keep cutting in on your two conversations don't I? Is that something I should worry about?" He chuckled smiling brightly. Kaine seemed to make him smile brighter than usually or he tried to impress her by showing off his teeth.

"Our conversations are much more delightful" She whispered winking towards him as she attempted the same act of smiling brightly him.

"I'm grateful that our conversations delight you at least if I lose every limb in war someday my conversations will still delight you when you have to feed me with a spoon" He laughed as she did as well.

"The probability that you lose your head then as well is pretty high" She joined in his tone."but let's not talk about war before it's here"

"You'll be a good queen, I believe so" He said looking at her a lot deeper than he actually meant.

"No, not at all. I'm not ready, not in thousand years will I be ready to decide over the lives of my people" Kaine shrugged. They had talked ya about that a thousand times that night as well."You'll have to leave this place forever after the kings leaves, because we'll go to and we're supposed to marry in four moons"

"How do you know that all?" His voice was trembling in fear. This place was his home, here was his family and everything he ever knew. He could never leave them just like that.

"Alba told me since she's the favourite child, even liked better than the twins and mother apparently told her that so that she could help me or whatever. Four months? I can't think of all the things I wanna do before we get married but in four months" She didn't finish the sentence and just stared at him blankly not sure if she could find her the right words.

"You're just not ready for that commitment yet and neither am I"
