Aulvus and Avidia Optirian lost their daughter to a terrible disease 10 years after first contact with the Humans. (humans who changed bodies like clothes thanks to the stacks inside their necks storing their memories and personality inside.) The humans' Protectorate with their Alliance Military, the Hierarchy and the council sat down to a deal. If cloned bodies were made (by the race that wanted to adopt a human) humans could be adopted by another race. They would always be considered humans by the human government as long as they had a stack. Meaning all human laws applied to them and therfore all rights and punishments if any human law was broken.
Aulvus and Avidia decided 15 years after first contact to adopt a human child. They chose a child from videos made of the children showcasing their mental age, personality, and background including how their birth sleeve died. And then payed to have a Turian body cloned from the both of them aged to the age of the childs mentality. They picked a young girl about the age of 5 (the age their daughter was when she died 15 years prior.
They traveled to Earth where they would meet the 5 year old in her new body. Her birth name was Ava Shepard her new name would be later known to be Aquila Optirian.
Aulvus was great friends with the Vakarians they lived right across from each other.
