(Orginal chapter 1 written by xXgabystarXx)

Alfred had awoken to his mother shaking him. She was crying, and didn't seem to be in a good mood in general.

"Alfred, I love you my sweet baby boy, but, I'm so sorry for what I'm about to do."

Alfred obviously didn't understand, what did she mean? Why was she crying? The answer was still unknown.

All of a sudden, the young boy was lifted from his straw mat, and carried off, towards what seemed to be a box, made of dull wood, so it would be unnoticeable, and just the right size for the 3 year old.

"Mommy?" The child was scared, and began sniffling.

"It's alright m'dear, everything is going to be alright."

Emezie kissed her son on the forehead one last time, before whispering a few quiet words.

Alfred's world turned black.

Emezie had panicked, the townspeople had found out, and so, she decided to save the one thing that mattered most to her right now; Her youngest son.
She knew, that when he would wake again, she'd be dead.

Why? Because moments after Emezie sealed her son away, in a dull wooden box with only a note, and a stuffed rabbit, the townspeople came to execute her.
She laughed dryly as they tried to open the box, and smiled through pain filled tears.

"You will never feel the warmth of heaven you wicked person." Yells a person.

They carried her, tied Emezie up, and chained the heaviest rocks to her. Their faces held no remorse, as she was dropped into the water.

Matthew was all alone, his father had went out to party, and he decided to go wander off, because honestly, would father, wait no, Abbader, truly care if he was missing? Probably not. So he decided to wander off, and disappear off into the woods.

After walking for a bit, he saw some person? He couldn't tell with all that long hair.
"Mr? Are you ok?" he said, and tilted his head.
"Mon dieu! You scared me mon ami! Be more careful, ok?"

After this, a small conversation started, and apparently, the man, Francis Bonnefoy, wasn't normal. He was a personification. The nation of France to be exact.

"So...you represent people?"
Matthew, the curious child pondered.

"Indeed, I came here seeking the personification of New France, and my instincts are telling me that it is you Mon Ami," Francis gave a quaint smile, and continued on. "Mathieu, I think you could do incredible things. Please, come with me, and I'll show you I am not lying."

Matthew hesitated. He was unsure whether or not if Francis was telling the truth. He looked at the Frenchman's extended hand, and took a deep breath.

Matthew took his hand.
