Poppy's P.O.V.

Sunday 31st October 2010

I squealed in delight, "I love Halloween!"

Beth moaned, "I hate Halloween! I hate all the ghosts and the atmosphere and the scary stories! I hate scary stuff!"

"Grow up!" Diana rolled her eyes.

Ed chuckled at Beth. "Well, that's the whole point of Halloween!"

"I used to love Halloween when I was a kid, especially trick or treating and all the parties," Ryan said as he put up a piece of decoration.

"Oh yeah, I remember once you when to a party on Halloween and you had a huge hangover the next day!" I chuckled at the memory.

"Yeah, and Ed and I are gonna make sure that there is no alcohol in this party," Ryan said firmly.

"No! You're not allowed to come at all! Go out and hang out with some friends! You are still young!"

"You called me a grandpa because I like sudoku puzzles and walk slower than a snail," Ryan retorted. "Then you decided to put out my non-existent grey hairs."

"Please just let me be, let me live," I cried. After a lot of pleading and bribing, the brothers finally left my house, unsupervised and were only to come back later for the movie night later on.

Suddenly, we all heard someone scream. We all looked at each other before sprinting towards the hall. There, we saw Gabe and Diana on top of one another with Halloween decorations covering them.

"Oww! My ass," Diana complained.

"Your ass . . . What about mine?! I think I bruised my pelvis! You know I have sensitive hip syndrome!" Gabe moaned in agony. We all laughed at the two.

Diana asked confused. "What's pelvis?"

Ed mocked her ignorance and in return, Diana picked up an inflated broom and hit him across the head. "That's what you get for being mean to me," she said before sprinting to the garden.

"This means war!" Ed disappeared into the next room.

"What am I going to do with him?" Ryan sighed shaking his head and chuckling.

After two hours of Diana and Edward acting like 2-year-olds, Gabe complaining about how much his pelvis was sore and a lot of sighing from Ryan and Beth, we finally finished decorating the entire house. I went upstairs and changed into my costume. Applying eyeliner was difficult and I was worried I was going to look like a panda. However, I managed to draw them on and paint the fake blood around the corners of my lips and paint the rest of my face white.

The party was being held in the house and outside. There was a stage set up with bright lights, set up by Gabe and Tom and fireworks ready to burst. Most of the people in attendance were from my year and some from Zac classes. The rest were friends of friends but I wasn't concerned. The more the merrier, right? The music was blasting and people were helping themselves to the alcohol on display. People were making out with others around the house, others were exploring marijuana. My eyes were fixed on Conor who was having a good time with some girls from school. He caught me staring at him again and smiled wearily. Embarrassed that I had been caught staring, I rushed back inside the house to prepare some snacks for later on during the night. I was inside the kitchen for a while until Tom joined me inside with some bin bags, letting me know that people were starting to leave.

It was closer to 11 pm when we had all sat down together in front of my giant TV to watch the movie that I had chosen. Throughout the entire film, all I could hear were my scared friends hiding their faces behind the pillows.

"Switch it off!" Beth had screamed multiple times during the film. Typical Beth.

"Ahh!" I heard Stephanie scream and saw her bury her head in the crook of Adrian's neck as he tried to comfort her and try not to freak out himself.

After the movie ended the room was silent. No one spoke. No one breathed.

"Boo," I screamed into Beth's ear. Everyone else screamed like little girls. Poor Beth was holding her racing heart after the heart attack I had just given her. I burst out laughing evilly.

"How could you be laughing?! Didn't you just watch the film," Gabe screamed at me. I could see the others shaking and I saw something wet around Conor's crotch area?

"Conor . . . Did you pee your pants?" I cackled. Conor checks turned a very bright shade of red. He defended himself saying that someone had dropped a drink on him (a likely cause of the wet patch). Too embarrassed, he ran out of the house.

"It's getting late Poppy; I'm tired and probably won't get to go to sleep tonight because of your stupid film. Come on Addi, let's get the hell out of this place," Stephanie yawned. Adrian was covered with popcorn. He had made a sexual remark but only got a scolding from a tired and scared Stephanie who just wanted to go home. "Come on Beth, I'm getting the hell out of this. . . Creepy house!" She said loudly as she tugged Adrian and walked towards the hall. That just left Gabe, Tom and Charlie who were still in shock.

I tapped their shoulders lightly. "Guys?"

"I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight," Charlie spoke shakily.

"Me too," The guys stammered. They decided to stay the night so I sorted out their places to sleep in my room. Once we had changed and settled in, the lights were off except for the flashlight that I shone at their faces.

"So, who wants to hear a ghost story?" They all shook their heads. "Well goodnight, and please don't scream so loudly cos I'm even scarier when I'm cranky. Night people!" I heard the mutter goodnight back as I made myself comfortable.
