Lunch break has finally come and Bea decided to go back to her classroom to eat. It was also a good thing that I was able to remember her name.
"Aren't you gonna eat?" Zachrey asked me.
"Later, I still have to wait for my mom. She'll bring me my lunch," I answered. He looked at me. "Just eat first. I'll be fine."
"Okay, let's eat." I just nodded to him.
Nasa office naman si Ma'am Jehr kumakain. May ilang teachers naman dito sa loob pero kami lang dalawa ni Zachrey ang estudyante.
Ma'am Jehr took her lunch in her office. There were quite a few teachers with us but the only students were Zachrey and me.
"I thought you were going to take your lunch in your classroom." He looked so famished, though. Besides, their classes start so early, so I could not blame him.
"Nah, I'll just stay here. I'm so famished and our building is too far from here" I just nodded to him.
It could not be helped. Why do we have to suffer this shifting, anyway? Technically, I do not have any problems with my schedule for now since I got used to it. Our classes starts at ten am to seven pm. Good but dangerous because we go home late at night.
Amidst of thinking about it, I just sighed when I remembered something and said, "Good for you, it's not a big deal for you that I call my parents Mommy and Daddy."
He looked at me.
"Why would it be a big deal?"
"Dunno. The others would often say that I'm a rich kid because of it. Duh! It's not an issue at all. It's just annoying sometimes, you know! Just because I call my parents that doesn't mean I'm well-off."
"Chill."
"I am, Zachrey." I released a heavy sigh again. Perhaps, I am famished.
"You're hungry, aren't you?" I did not hesitate to nod. "Don't even think about it. It's just a perception of most of the people. Here in the Philippines, only rich kids call Mommy and Daddy to their parents, so you can't blame them if they call you one."
I sighed for the third time.
"Perhaps you're ri─"
"Xiamin."
I was shocked to look behind me when I heard a voice.
"M-Mommy!" I quickly stood up and showed my respect. "How did you get in here? I thought I'd just get my lunch at the school gate?"
"Relax." She winked at me.
The teachers' inside the classroom immediately greeted her like she was one of them.
So, that's how she got in. I nearly forgot that she can get rid of almost everything and can get along with everyone in just a snap. I wish I had such high confidence like her, though.
I sat back on my chair and started eating my lunch. If Zachrey had not moved here by my side, I would have forgotten him.
"Oh! Uh, Mom, this is Zachrey, by the way," I looked at Zachrey. "Zachrey, my mom."
