Kirishima glanced up desperately at Bakugo, begging him for an answer to the itching in his throat. Bakugo looked down confused. They sat up facing each other, and Kirishima held his hand over his mouth. He knew what was coming.
He coughed into his hand twice, and Bakugo grabbed his shoulder, "What's happening? You said you would be fine if you kissed the one you-" he paused, letting go of his shoulder, "I was wrong. I'm not the person you love. This was so stupid. I'm an idiot. I can't believe I thought-"
Kirishima expressed his panic through his furrowed eyebrows, desperately waving, trying to let Bakugo know that there is no one else. HE was the one Kirishima needed. He didn't make a mistake. But the flower had entered his airways, and had sabotaged his chance at speech.
He stood up, a nauseous feeling swirling around his head and stomach. It was different this time. Was this it? Was this the end? It wasn't supposed to be like this. Bakugo did return his affection. This was all wrong. Bakugo stood up beside him, allowing Kirishima to use him as a crutch to make his way to the bathroom.
Kirishima knelled beside the toilet, and coughed another three times, before feeling the need to heave, between his chocking coughs. Bakugo pat his back with a firm tap, and it seemed to push whatever was in his throat up. With an intense sputtering cough, Kirishima could feel a thin, string-like shape in his mouth. He reached into his mouth and began pulling the string-like object out. He felt that it was attached to whatever was in his throat, for the more he pulled, the faster the blockade in his throat made its way up.
He continues pulling slowly, more and more, until he realises the resemblance it has to a plant root. He was pulling out the last of the disease. The final root left his lungs, and finally, he could breathe. Kirishima sat back in relief, gasping thankfully for air. He would be okay after all. Bakugo loved him, and the Hanahaki nightmare was finally over.
"Bakugo," said Kirishima between pants, "I- I do love you. You weren't wrong. You were never an idiot for believing so. Thank you. You saved me, again. Those were the roots. I'm free."
Bakugo stood up and flashed a rare smile, "Why didn't you tell me how you felt at the beginning? You wouldn't have had to go through all this."Kirishima suddenly felt ashamed. He should have told Bakugo from the beginning. He was right. But, he was scared. What if Bakugo didn't like him back? What if Bakugo didn't like men at all? He was ashamed that he himself liked men. It was weird. "It's not manly if you like men. I didn't even want to believe it at first, even if it was obvious to me that I was interested in you."
"Kirishima, there is no one that I know who is manlier than you. You risk your life to save the lives of others. You saved MY life way back in High School, even when you knew the high risk. We were dealing with one of the biggest criminal organisations ever, and you were prepared to face all that just to save me. If that doesn't make you manly, I don't know what does. Your sexuality doesn't affect the person you are, simply the people you like,"
Kirishima felt his heart flutter. Bakugo was right. He was still himself. Nothing had changed. He felt his cheeks dust over with a deep red heat, his eyes widening with appreciation. He couldn't help but smile at Bakugo's kind words. It was rare, but Bakugo could express genuine wholesomeness at times, and it shocked Kirishima just as much each time.
Bakugo noticed the way Kirishima was looking at him, and he averted his gaze, realising how soft Kirishima looked, and realising how much he liked that. The slightest tinge of pink appeared on Bakugo's cheeks and ears, and Kirishima noticed instantly, "No way I just made THE Bakugo Katsuki FLUSTERED! This is unbelievable."
Bakugo couldn't bring himself to look at Kirishima, "If you don't leave this bathroom right now I'm going to be more than flustered. We are absolutely not doing this right after you threw up a fucking stick.""It was a rose root you asshole," teased Kirishima.
"Get out."
"Okay, okay, fine." Kirishima shut the door gently behind him, letting out a little giggle as he did so. On the other side of the door, he heard a second muffled laugh. There was no one else for him, and they both wouldn't want it any other way.
A/N:
Ummm chao, anyways. I just heard that the creator of BNHA got harassed so much online that he feels forced to make some of the ships canon. Guys, that's horrible. To anyone who has contacted the creator and asked for these romances to happen, please stop. Sure, LGBTQ representation is amazing and some of the couples are cute and highly wanted, but don't ruin and manipulate someone else's story for your benefit.
Please respect the creator. Your ships are your OWN opinion, don't force them onto anyone else.
Love you all, and thank you to those who know better. <3
