~Chapter 38~ Hurtful words

~In South Rockk~

Bakari sat on the ground of South Rock and waiting impatiently. I walked in stood of him and saw he was shaking. "You good?" I asked him. "Mhm..." He said with his voice breaking. I sighed with a bit of annoyance in my voice. I knew this was a bad idea. Dad came out with the sun shining behind him and once he saw Bakari, he freaked out! "Yeah, that was my reaction, too." I said looking away annoyed. "What is he doing here!?!" Dad scolded. "Your Majesty... I humbly ask to live in the Southlands and become a South-" Bakari started a short speech then Dad scolded again, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Bakari gulped and lowered his ears. I noticed this and I stood up and was about to say something but Dad scolded once more, "Now leave! Go back to the Northlands and NEVER return!" Dad roared and then Bakari looked down with a small sad expression on his face. Dad turned to me fiercely and obviously madly and yelled, "Kia! How could you let a Northlander here!!?" "I'm sorry, Dad. You're the one who tells me animals can change." I said looking down. Then Naju along with the rest of the Lion Guard walked in and Naju asked, "Hey, uh, what's goin' on?" "Kia and I were just having a conversation that doesn't include you guys." Dad snapped lookingat me.

Naju's mind

Wow, harsh.

"You've disappointed me, Kia." Dad told me, looking back at me as he walked away. I got so mad! "Oh, what a surprise! I've disappointed you! All I've done is disappoint you from a cub to a teenager to an adult! Is-is that it?" I scolded at him. Dad looked at me again and only was able to say, "Kia," before I interrupted him and scolded again, "What is it about me that you have such a problem against?! Is it cause I'm a female? Is it-is it cause I'm not as cute and small as I was when I was a cub?! What is it!!? Tell me so I can fix it!!" "......." Was all Dad could say. "Dad, all I've ever tried to do my whole life is impress you!" I said feeling tears. "But-but everything I do! It-it feels like it's just some desperate attempt to get you to notice me or just be proud of me! I-I mean, look at me! OK, do you even see me?!? Because most of the time you don't... cause you don't want to. When I do something right anyway." I said truthfully then ran in attempt to leave South Rock but Bakari was in the way. "Kia...-" Bakari started. "DON'T TALK TO ME, BAKARI! Just go back to your stupid Northlands! It's more your level anyway." I snapped before running far out into the plains of the Southlands. Dad looked at Mom and she just glared at him and walked away. "Poor Kia," Naju said quietly looking down with his ears lowered.

~That afternoon~

Bakari was walking back to the Northlands when he thought, "I've done nothing to the Southlanders to deserve this! Why an I getting treated like the outcast?!" He growled and said to himself, "You know what? No! I've put up with hate by the Southlanders long enough. I've put ip with it for three whole years! I deserve to be here and even in Kazija's pride. And I WILL live here. No matter the cost." He looked at a few burnt branches and then thought of me. "And I know EXACTLY how to do it..." He smirked as he looked at the burnt branches.
