~ 2 hours before party~

Jace and I mainly talked about pointless conversations mostly about childhood memories. We got a few glares because we were laughing too loudly. He was so kind, smart, funny and sweet but I couldn't understand why he hung around Jayden and Ace. He seemed so different but at the same time blended with them. As the laughter died, there was a comfortable silence which involved us oogling at each other but unfortunately disturbed by my ringtone, Guts Over Fear by Eminem ft Sia, echoing throught the shop. I grabbed my phone and hurried outside, mouthing him I'd be back which he nodded in agreement.

"Hello?" I answered the phone, annoyed.

"Where are you?!" the person more likely yelled than asked.

"Nena, low down your volume please." I demanded.

"Call me back when you come home." She quickly hung up the phone. She never learnt how to end a call.

Walking by to table, we were originally sitting, I saw Jace staring outside the window, looking lost in his thoughts. Sitting down in front of him, I asked, "What you thinking about?"

"Oh, your back and nothing." He tried to hide it but failed. I decided to let it drop since I didn't want to spoil this perfect evening.

"I think you should get back home and prepare for the party later." He said, getting up from his chair and resting a tip.

"Okay." Strange moment.

We walked side by side towards the door, where an old lady stopped us and smiled, "You two are a cute couple," and walked away. Jace beamed with a huge smile across his face while I looked on teh floor blushing my ass off.

"Umm, you wanna walk with me? I live 10 mins from here," I asked him, trying to change the subject.

"Sure." He chirped with amusement in his eyes.

We exited the store and strolled down the street, not to far where my house was. We took our cups with us, mines had hot chocoa and his had coffee. I sipped some of hot chocoa during the comfortable silence until a question popped up in my little head.

"You are not obnoxious like Jaylen, but why you hang around him?" His smile went quickly and behind his eyes you could a battle going on. I was on the urge of finding out but I let it rest.

"Its a long story," he said in a quiet tone.

"Oh." Was all I could manage to muster.

"I know we're not that close but I'm here if you wanna talk," I assured him with my genuine smile. His smile quickly re-appeared with some hope in his eyes.

"Same here." He replied.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure..." I trailed off not knowing what to expect.

"Why did you leave your country to live here?" he inquired.

Blood drained from my face and my smile vanished with my lips pressed against the flat line. I looked away to avoid his eyes. That was a story not to be told EVER. I stayed in silence. I think he recognised how silent I became that I felt his eyes burning into my soul with hundreds of questions in his emotions. Luckily, my house was nearby. Amen, cause I was not going to explain my past.
