Time Skip- 12 years later

Mary tugged her coat collar closer to her neck as the rain pounded harder. Thunder clapped and lightening reached across the sky. Her sons trailed aimlessly behind her, splashing each other in the occasional deeper puddles. She didn't bother calling them out, knowing better that there was no point. Besides, she thought to herself, let them be kids while they can.

Grinning sheepishly, she continued down a well-kept sidewalk to their destination - Sam's end-of-the-year school dance. They were actually heading for his date's home for Sam to escort her. Mary's heart warmed every time she imagined her baby Sammy out on the dance floor having fun with other people he loved - the whole idea gave her butterflies.

Sighing to herself, she watched Sam race past her and up to the girl's front porch. Anyone could see his hands sweating from a mile away (not to mention the think line of sweat that's hanging on his forehead). Dean smiles next to her, holding two thumbs up, and she understandingly waves to Sam with a shy grin. He nods, huffs up his shoulders and rings the doorbell.

A girl with long golden ringlets in her hair steps out. Her dress grazes the part of her legs just below the knees - perfect length, Mary thinks. Clasping her hands together, she brings them to her chest and 'aws' when Sam timidly bows and she curtsies with a giggle.

They head down the steps as Sam props open an umbrella just big enough for the two of them. Though it was raining, Mary didn't want to bother much with the car considering the school was hardly two blocks away. It wasn't even really raining that hard anyways, she reassured herself.

Away they walked, and Dean quietly pulled out his old camera, desiring to catch the light on his brother and the girl to show the beauty in them as they slowly make their way down the long sidewalk. A snap later and Mary laid a hand on his shoulder, softly turning him around, and they headed home.

Once home, they sat down to watch the Walking Dead until they expected Sam to return from the dance at 12pm.

                                         -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the mean time, at the dance, Sam awkwardly asked his date to dance, and as soon as they did, a slow song started playing. His date, whose name is Katalina, wrapped her soft arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder. His arms stiffly hung around her middle back, not daring to move anywhere but there.

The lights in the gym were dimmed down low to a soothing and most fitting setting as the slow-dance music was cranked up a little higher.

Katalina leaned in closer to rest her head on Sam's shoulder, huffing out a happy sigh in the process. Sam didn't recognize the song being played, but figured whoever picked it picked well. //a/n we'll just say its "Earth Angel" by The Temptations c: \\

They both swayed closely and gently with the calming beat, not caring if they were yelled at by a teacher because they were "too close". This was, after all, a middle school dance.

Sam day dreamed of the exciting days to come- finally stepping foot into a high school! Dean and he could finally see each other in the halls and maybe they'd get to eat lunch together too! The ideas thrilled Sam, for he very much admired his older brother- even if his brother wasn't that great of a role model.

Very much unlike Sam, Dean was quite reckless with his life, not seeming to care where one way went on what day. In all truthfulness, Dean believed they weren't as close as Sam portrayed them to be. Of course Dean saw himself as a big brotherly figure and that he ought to watch out for his kid brother, but he thought nothing more of it.
