Today, Lily and I are going furniture shopping. We're also looking for some cool paint colours to paint the apartment. We're both thinking on having a light blue for the living room and a cream colour for the kitchen and dining room.
"Do you like this couch?", Lily asked. She was sitting on a red plush couch with three seats.
I walked over to the couch and sat down beside her, our knees and thighs touching, skin to skin. I don't know why I was so aware of how much we were touching, but for some reason it was like every time we touch my brain automatically notices and so does my body, sending shivers down my spine.
"It's comfy. I like it."
"I agree", I said. "It is comfy, and I think it will also probably go well with the new paint we picked out for the living room."
Lily smiled widely. "Thats what I was thinking! Wow, I'm so glad I picked you as a roommate and not someone who I have nothing in common with."
Now it was my turn to smile widely. We both laughed and I waved over the sales assistant. He was a tall tanned man, early or mid-twenties, really cute. "We'll take two of these", I told him.
Lily's eyes widen and she opens her mouth to object. "No, I can only afford one!"
I shrug one shoulder and start following behind the sales assistant toward the front cashier. "They're on me."
We both walk to the cashier and I pay for the two couches with the money my parents gave me to help furnish the apartment. It was a generous amount of money and I planned to spend some of it on stocking the apartment with food.
"Thanks for paying for the couches", Lily said.
"Don't worry about it", I told her. "My parents gave me money to help you buy new furniture when I called them last night, so it's really no big deal."
"Well, still. Thanks", she smiled.
"You're welcome", I said back, smiling too. "Now let's go grocery shopping, I want food."
She laughed and I did too, then we both got into my car and I drove us to the grocery mart thats only a few blocks from the apartment. We walked into the cereal aisle first since it was the first one you saw when coming into the store.
"I love Fruity Pebbles!", I said, grabbing a box and throwing them into the cart.
"Well you better get two boxes then, cause I love them too!", she said as she grabbed another box of Fruity Pebbles and Honey Combs.
We walked throughout the entire grocery mart, picking out tons of soda and snacks, we had our entire cart filled to the top with food.
"So, do you have a boyfriend?", Lily asked as we waited in line to have our groceries rung through.
I shake my head from side to side. "We broke up just before graduation. He got accepted into some school in Canada, and I didn't want to try the long distance thing so we had to break it off."
"That sucks, sorry."
I shrug, smiling sadly. "What about you? You got a boyfriend?"
She shakes her head, smiling slightly. "Nope."
I frown, confused as to why she's smiling but let it go because the cashier starts to ring up our food. He looks around my brothers age, maybe a year older. He has sandy hair that flops across his forehead and shining brown eyes. He smiles a flirty smile as he rings our food through.
"Did you find everything okay?", he said in a flirty tone, smiling that half smile.
"Yep", I said back.
"I think you forgot something", he said when he finished bagging our groceries.
"Oh yeah?", I said.
He nods and pulls out a little piece of paper. He writes something on it then hands it to me. I look down and see that he's written his number down on it. "My number, you forgot it", he said with a wink.
Lily gagged loudly from beside me. "She's a little too old for you bud. Nice try though." She grabbed our groceries and my hand, leading me to the exit.
I giggled. "He was so adorable! And what a cute pick up technique!"
"He had weird hair", she grumbled.
"He did not!"
"Did too!"
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, I think he was cute."
"So you like them young, do you?", she asked curiously.
"Not that young! A few months younger maybe, not a few years!"
She smirks. "Whatever, let's just get home. I want to eat this food."
I throw my arm around her shoulder, pulling her to my side. "I'm so glad I picked to live with you. And that you picked to live with me too. I can tell we're going to be best friends."
She smiles and puts her arm around my waist. "Right back at ya, Bree."
