"Hyuckie, what's wrong? You've been awfully quiet since we got here." Yeji spoke softly, as her hand gently found a place on the lower back of the sulking boy next to her. What was supposed to be a fun brunch date, quickly turned into a dark, moody therapy session.
Despite how cheerful customers were around them, or how brightly the sun lit up the cafe, a dark aura of gloominess hang thick around her and the tan boy who hadn't uttered a single word the entirety of their time together.
All he seemed to do was fiddle with his fingers in frustration and sigh in between every cuss he mumbled to himself under his breath. Feelings he had tried his best to avoid are slowly collapsing around him, resulting in him feeling suffocated and depressed. The painful feeling in his heart was too heavy for him to bear, he felt like he was drowning in a sorrowful pit that Mark had left behind... And that only Mark could fix.
"Sorry, Yeji..." The brooding boy sighed, with his head still glued to the table below him.
"Hey," Yeji reached her free hand out to brush the strands of hair that fell beside the boy's cheeks and placed them behind his ear. "Talk to me."
In what felt like forever, Donghyuck lifted his head up to look at his friend. His eyes showed nothing but emptiness and despair, this broke Yeji's heart. The worried girl leaned in and wrapped her arms around the grieving boy's shoulder. Anything to help ease his pain she was willing to do but right now a hug was all she could give him. She felt so helpless.
"I miss him." Donghyuck softly cried into his friend's arms which were still warmly wrapped around him.
Yeji soothingly hushed the weeping boy as they quietly sat at their table by the window, never once letting him go. She needed no other explanation, she knew exactly who he meant. Jealousy raged inside her, she loved the tan boy but he didn't love her. His heart yearned for someone else, he wanted Mark.
"Do you love him?" She was taken aback by her words, she didn't want to hear the answer.
Donghyuck shot his head up in surprise. Although it crossed his mind, he never deeply thought about his feelings toward Mark. It didn't take much for the boy to come to a conclusion, it was obvious he was head over heels in love with his best friend. "... I...I love him" he announced for the first time. The girl said nothing but pulled Donghyuck into a warm embrace which he happily took.
She gazed out the window slightly daydreaming, she thought about what Donghyuck said. She cared about him too much to watch him go through this. She knew this was all her fault, putting her pride aside, she had to fix this mess and put a stop to all of this.
