Chapter 1

Hi. Let me introduce myself. My name is Jessica Brooks and I'm from Barwick, Georgia.

Ever since my dad died in a car crash about 7 months ago, my family has been a complete trainreck. Now that my dad is gone, I live with my mom and sister, Kayla. She's 17, about 2 years older than me. Kayla was always daddy's little girl, but now that he's gone, she's transformed so quickly so damn fast. Now she's barely home, always out partying and drinking.

And for my mom, she's down financially and has nobody to rely on now that dad is gone. It seems like she's out most of the time, either working or at the bar. Mom has resorted to a life of drinking to get her mind off things, so I never even know what to expect from her.

I'm nothing like the rest of my family. I continue to stand strong, and I can thank my friends for always being there to support me. Well I could depend on them, because I just got word that my mom got excepted to a job in New Jersey. God, how I dreaded this move.
