Chapter 44

My heart was pounding. I found my way to the closest bathroom and locked myself in a stall. I rubbed wet mascara and tears off my cheeks. I cried endless tears, running down my cheeks forming a puddle on the floor beneath me.

When the last period bell rang, I quickly grabbed my bags and ran off campus. I heard someone calling my name. I looked around. The voice became closer and closer. Turning around, I came face to face with Ethan.

Ah, shit.

"Ethan..." I said frowning.

"Jessica, what's wrong? I haven't seen you at all."

"Your brother happened." I snapped. "Ethan, I'm sorry... you have nothing to do with this. I'm just upset, ya know? I feel, um..."

"Betrayed?" Ethan said, finishing my sentence. "Jess, I know my brothers kinda a douche sometimes.. but he would never do anything to hurt you. He loves you so much. He would be stupid to hurt you, I mean look at you... your beautiful... and kind... and smart..."

He ran his fingers through the side of my hair and placed his hand on my hip, leaning in and kissing me.

My face went blank.

"Jessica, I'm sorry... I shouldn't have-"

"Yeah, you're right." I said, running back home.

I slammed on to my bed and plugged in my earbuds. I played the saddest songs I could find on repeat over and over and over again. I miss Grayson, I miss him so much. But I don't want to give in so easily. He did what he did and it fucking hurt me.

Hot tears crowded my eyes. Picked up my phone and called to check in on my Mom.

The phone rang three times and an automated message said the number you are trying to reach is currently unavailable. Please try again later. Of course. Just my luck.

My Mom's gonna die. She's gonna fucking die. I know I've yelled and screamed at her and told her I hate her, but I can't lose her. Nobody else in my family would take Kayla and I. We would be put in foster care. And that would probably cause all hell to break loose.

But it's not like I'm not used to that or anything. My life is a living nightmare, hell has already broke loose.
