Best Friend Short Story

You and Justin have been best friends for as long as you can remember you were the same age and have always got along. You hang out pretty much every day and every weekend you take turns on who's house you stay in. It was your turn this week.

Your mom: Okay sweetie your dad and I are going out of town for the weekend. So Justin can stay both nights if he wishes or you could spend a night here and then at Justin's. Either way I don't want you to be on your own okay?
Your mom and dad have always allowed Justin to sleep over at the house because they've known him since he was a baby so they trust him. Your mom packs the last of her stuff while your dad, who's already given you the house rules is waiting in the car.
You: Mom I'm 19 not 9
Y/m: I know honey but your still my baby. I've left money on the counter in the kitchen for you two to get pizza or whatever.
You: Thanks, love you. Have a nice time
Your mom kisses your forehead as she steps out the front door with her bag.
Y/m: Love you too! Are you sure you're gonna be okay?
She looks at you concerned
You: Mom go! I'm fine I've got Justin he'll look after me if I need him to and if I really need you I'll call okay?
Y/m: Okay okay! bye sweet cheeks, Be good!
You: We will
Your mom gets in the car and you wave as your mom an dad drive away.
You*thinking out loud*: Okay what do I need..Oo I know, I need to get some ingredients from the store and snacks for tonight.

You grab your purse, car keys and go out to your car. You get in and drive the store, you get what you need and come home 30 mins later. It was around 6pm, You shower and put a fresh outfit on. You come downstairs just as the doorbell rang, it was Justin.
Justin: Ayyyeee
You: Heyy
You hug as Justin steps into your house and shuts the door.
You: Oo guess what?
You say as you're walking into the kitchen with Justin following you.
Justin: What?
You: My mom an dad are out of town all weekend.
Justin: ...Okay? So what?
He giggles
You: So my mom doesn't want me to be on my own. So that means we get to spend 2 nights together instead of just one!
Justin: Urgh do I have to spend two nights with you?!
He joked.
You: Oh please you love spending time with me
Justin: You wish! Anyways what's all this?
He looks at the flour, mixing bowl, eggs and butter on the countertop.
You: Oh I was thinking we could bake like cakes or something
Justin: Cakes?
You: Yes cakes
Justin: But what about my physique?!
Justin was joking but he did have an amazing body
You: What physique?
Justin lifted his shirt up to reveal a toned chest with an 8pack
Justin: This physique
You looked at his body and smiled. You don't know what it was but tonight felt different to the other nights you hang with Justin. But not bad different, not even a good different. It was just...different.

Justin: Okay then let's start!
Justin walks around the island in your kitchen and stands next to you as you get one of your old baking books out that you had as a kid. 'CeCe's cupcake creations'.

You read it and start following the instructions.
You: Okay so you start with some flour, eggs and butter
You open the packet of flour and measure out the right amount in a bowl. Without you noticing, Justin gets a pinch of flour in his fingers
Justin: (y/n)?
You: Yeah?
You say as you turn to face him, he throws the pinch of flour from his fingers in your face and giggles.
You: You are so dead!
You grab a small handful of flour and an egg, Justin runs around the other side of the island, you're both giggling. You're both running around the island like a dog chasing it's tail. You finally manage to catch up to him and throw the handful of flour in his face and crack the egg on his t-shirt. You're both laughing hard, Justin gets behind you and picks you up with one arm. You're wriggling as you giggle.
Justin: That's it you're going in the trash!
You*laughing*: Nooo don't!
Justin: Tell me you love me
You: No! *giggle*
Justin still has hold of you and is still standing next to the trash can with the lid open
Justin: Say "I love you Justin and your the best person in the world"
Justin jokingly starts lowering you closer to the trash can
You: Okay! Okay! I love you Justin and your the best person in the world!
He puts you down
Justin: I know I am
You roll your eyes an smirk, you finish off making the cake mix, put it into cupcake cups and put them in the oven.
Justin looks down at his t-shirt at the egg membrane still sliding down it.
You: Here, get that off I'll wash it
Justin takes it off and smirks as you stare at his body, he hands you his t-shirt while looking at you. You must have been doing it for a good 30 seconds Justin giggles and breaks you out of it
Justin: (y/n)?...
You: Oh yeah, sorry
You take his t-shirt over to the washing machine and put it in..."accidentally" on a long wash. Which meant Justin had to be shirtless a lot longer than planned...oops!

15 mins later the cakes are done and you carefully get them out of the oven with oven mitts.

You take them into the living room, Justin follows you with your drinks and snacks.

You: What movie do you feel like watching?
Justin: Idk but a scary one
You: Okay
You search through Netflix
You: Ouija?
Justin: Perfect

-Justin's POV-
Tonight was going amazing, I mean I always love our 'sleep overs' but tonight was different...but in a good way...a very good way. This might be the night I do it..but I'm scared. I mean I think it's mutual but I don't know, she's my best friend why do I feel like this?!.
I love watching scary movies with (y/n) though, she always cuddles into me when she gets scared and I get to 'protect' her. I could feel myself smiling at her as she sorts the movie out completely oblivious of my thoughts.

-no ones POV-

Justin sits back into your couch as you put out the snacks into bowls. As the movie starts you get next to him and lean into him as he puts his arm around you. 1hr into the film and a really scary part comes up, you hide your face into Justin's chest, he puts his other arm around you and holds you tight. Not too tight but tight enough so you feel safe
You: Is it over yet?!
You look up at him for confirmation
He looks at you and you just stare into each other's eyes for a few seconds. You both feel chemistry between you, it was strange because you've seen his face millions of times and never felt this way before. But for some reason tonight when you looked at him, you got butterflies like crazy.

-Justin's POV-
Oh my gosh look at her beautiful face, she's so perfect, how will I know if she feels the same about me? I guess there's only one way to find out...

-no ones POV-
Justin slowly lowers his face towards you and closes his eyes. You bring yours to his and do the same, your lips meet each other and you kiss softly but with tongue.

As your kissing you know in the back of your mind this was wrong but you couldn't work out why it felt right.

After the kiss you and Justin both smile and look in each other's eyes. Justin breaks the moment by quickly getting up off the couch.

Justin: What just happened?!
You sit up an look at him
You: What?
Justin: I'm sorry I-I-
You get up, stand in front of him and put both of your hands on his upper arms
You: Shh it's okay
Justin: No it's not I shouldn't have done it! I've ruined everything, I've ruined us!
You: Justin will you calm down! You haven't ruined anything, I wanted it too okay...I wanted it too..
Justin: Wha-you did?
Justin smiles, you nod and smile.
You: Yeah..
Justin: It's just..I don't know what it is but lately and especially tonight I feel different around you
You look down defeated
You: Oh..
Justin: No I mean, different in a good way. Look you're amazing and kind and beautiful, you've been there for me through everything in my life. You've been my rock when my life was crumbling around me, you put me back together piece by piece. You're everything a guy wants in a girl and more. The reason why I can't find a perfect girl is because I already have mine and she's been beside me my whole life, I've just never noticed her until these past few weeks.
You smile wide
Justin: I don't know how you feel about me but what I do know is that Im in love with you (y/n) and I never wanna lose you.
You're sill smiling wide only now you're tearing up with happiness.
You: I'm in love with you too Justin and what happened tonight has made me realise that. You're never gonna lose me okay, no matter what happens I promise you'll always have me by your side.
Justin smiles, wipes a tear that's rolling down your cheek and kisses you again but this time more passionately.
Justin: So...wanna be my girl?
You giggle and nod
You: Yes I do! I really do!
Justin: I love you so much (y/n)
You: I love you so much too Justin.

You and Justin kiss again and go into you're own perfect little world ignoring the movie noise behind you.
