The divinium raged through Margo's veins like lightening ready to strike an unsuspecting ground. The power within her brought forth an energy storm inside the church; schematics of the ark and test tubes swirled about the room. The ark rocked back and forth, nearly tipping over.
"Margo," mother superior yelled through the storm, "you have to calm down!"
"I'm not doing anything!"
"You're panicking. The divinium is reacting to your emotions."
Margo took a deep breath to try and calm her emotions. She fell to her knees, gripping the stone floor. Her body shook and the energy storm ceased. The tension in her face had gone, her limbs loosened, and she fell flat on the ground. Mother superior and Lilith rushed to Margo's side.
"That wasn't just divinium was it," Mother superior questioned.
"No, it wasn't," Jillian said standing and dusting herself off.
"What was it," Mother superior demanded.
"When Ava came to me for answers. Answers you wouldn't give her--"
"We tried," mother superior snapped.
"Nevertheless, I used the ark to harvest some of the halo's energy. I was going to use it to repower the ark to get...to get my son," she said her voice cracking with every word.
"So, you mixed the energy of the halo with the divinium?" Lilith asked confused, "but I thought divinium weakened the halo?"
"On the contrary," Jillian paused, "Through my research, I found that it heightens the energy of the halo . Separately the two energies act as opposites. That's why the halo-bearer is susceptible to being killed by weapons forged from it. But together--"
"They fuse within each other," Lilith's voice trailed.
"Yes so why not eliminate this possibility of our chosen one to be killed," she smirked, "I've created immortality."
"So, you're saying—"
"Yes," she paused, "Margo is immortal."
"Will it wear off?" mother superior interrupted.
"I'm not sure. I'll need to run more test, but I do know that she will be able to pass through realms with no problem."
Lilith and Mother superior shook Margo's body, awakening her. Margo stared blankly at them and looked around the room.
"Can you see?" Lilith asked.
"Yes," Margo replied in a soft tone.
"Are you hurt?" Mother superior asked placing her hand on her shoulder.
"I feel fine," Margo said standing to her feet, "what was that?"
"It's you," Jillian said firmly, "It is the new improved you."
"I didn't know I needed improvement," she chuckled nervously.
"Yea, she's fine, "Lilith laughed softly, "she's being a smart ass again."
Margo stretched her arms wide, squeezing her fist; she could see the blue glowing specks of divinium embedded in her skin. It was a supernatural feeling.
"Can I fight?"
"Let's not get carried away," Lilith laughed touching her shoulder.
Margo deflected her hand swiftly and ploughed her fist into Lilith's stomach. Lilith staggered backward surprised. She shook off the unexpected hit and stared at Margo.
"Divinium is an intelligence and it is not of this world," Jillian said firmly, "So, you will be able to access anything you need, including how to fight."
"Well then," Margo paused, "let's give it a go."
"Excellent," Lilith smirked devilishly, "Now I won't have to hold back."
Lilith leaped towards Margo pushing her roughly into a structural pillar centered in the middle of the sanctuary; Margo stumbled backwards falling flat on her back.
"All the power in the world won't make you a warrior," Lilith antagonized.
Margo jumped up and charged at Lilith; she seized her arms trapping them at her side and head-butted her. Lilith was unshaken by the blow so, Margo tried repeatedly.
"What the hell?" Margo shrieked, "what's wrong with you?"
"I've been to the other side remember," she whispered, "I have power too."
Lilith head-butted Margo and broke free from her grip; she backflipped across the room preparing to attack. Margo's agile movement was too slow to keep up with Lilith who was one of the elites among the OCS. Margo's eyes once again turned a solid white and the storm that had been subsided began. Mother superior pounded her cane into the stone floor interrupting Margo.
"Enough," she demanded, "You will not use your power during training."
"Oh, come on!"
"That is not the way of the OCS," she said firmly, "we fight with honor."
"But...Lilith is freakishly strong."
"So are you," Lilith chimed in.
"You will train together, respectfully," mother superior said glaring at them both.
"Margo," Jillian interjected, "I couldn't help but notice that your energy is causing the ark to flicker."
"Okay and."
"Well, I would very much like to study you," she said walking towards her, "this is the first time these two sources have been mixed to create this—"
"No," Mother superior said firmly as she used her cane to separate Jillian from Margo, "we appreciate your contribution to the OCS, but we have a mission to complete. We can not be side tracked by your experiments."
"I just—"
"No," mother superior said again.
"With all do respect mother," Jillian said snidely, "it is my serum and I didn't develop it exclusively for the OCS."
"And with all do respect Ms. Salvius, we are at war. Unless you want to become a casualty, I suggest that you allow me to properly train her."
"Fine," Jillian sighed, "but as soon as this is over—"
"You must not understand," Mother superior said in a low tone, "as long as there is a heaven and a hell, there will always be a war."
