I heaved my duffle bag on my shoulder as the cab driver got my suitcase out of the trunk. Having two heavy bags on your shoulders isn't that bad until your backpack strap snaps. "Dammit," I muttered under my breath as I picked my backpack off of the floor and held it by the broken strap. As soon
as I was about to get my suitcase, a perky girl with 20 pounds of make up on her face walks up to me."Samuals, right?" I awkwardly nodded at the walking cup of coffee. "Good! Okay I'm Paula! I'm on the welcoming committee and I'm here to show you to your dorm." She smiled the grinch's smile. She turned around and said, "Follow me, Samuals!"
I dragged my crap behind me while trying to keep up with Ms.Perky Paula. "It's Raven." I said with impatience in my voice. She nodded a stern nod, not wanting to answer.
When we got to the dorm room, she handed me the keys and walked off. I dont know, maybe she's high or something. All I know is to keep my number
to myself. I don't want to be getting calls at 4 in the morning.I unlocked the door and hesitated to turn the knob. I guess I'm nervous about meeting my roommate. When I opened the door...no one was there. Well, that was anti-climactic. I sighed and walked in the room.
To the left was the door to the bathroom and to the right was a door to the closet. I looked over at my roommate's bed which looked nicely made. She had a dark blue comforter with light gray pillows. She had books all around her bed, too. Maybe she likes to read.
I went over to my bed and threw my stuff to the ground. Sighing of relief when doing so. My shoulders could move again. My body ached and my stomach growled so I went to the dining hall.
Besides a few kids, it was pretty much empty. I went to the line and got a grilled cheese with tomato soup. It's been my comfort food for as long as I remember. When I tasted the soup, my eyes fluttered closed and my stomach soared. Perfect ending to a weird day.
After I finished eating, I went back to my room and there was still no one there. I walked to the bathroom and washed my face before slipping on an old t-shirt made for a dude 4 times my size and some old athletic shorts. Then, I made a cave under my covers on my bed and watched American Horror Story on Netflix to make me sleepy. Staying up late watching Netflix is the number 1 way to get me tired.
I watched about 3 episodes of season 1 before my eye-lids started to get heavy. I shut down my laptop and put it on my nightstand before snuggling up in the covers. Within minutes I was asleep and having a dream about who knows what?
**
I woke up to a stiff object being projectiled to my head. I sat up and rubbed my face. "What the hell?" I nearly yelled. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. It was 2 in the morning. I looked down to the floor to see the pillow that was thrown at my face.
"Who are you and what are you doing in my room," a deep voice said to me. A deep voice? A guy's voice.
Oh crap.
I looked up at him and was in panic mode. He was way taller than me and could easily snap me in half. "Are you deaf? I asked you a question." He said, clearly getting impatient.
"Your room? I got the keys for this room. This is my room," I said, getting impatient myself. "Why do you have to barge in here at 2 in the morning because I'm in my room. Might I add that I was sleeping?" I felt strangely confident after that. I even surprised myself.
His jaw clenched, "No, this is my room. Who gave you the keys to my room?" He sounded pissed.
"I got them from the head-mistress, where else?" I was getting pissed off now, I'm really tired and after being in a plane for hours, this is unacceptable. I layed back down and covered my head with my blanket. He grunted and walked over to his bed.
